LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the wake of the tragic shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, conservative commentator Megyn Kelly made a powerful statement about her commitment to supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

Former president Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13, just months before the upcoming presidential election.

Megyn Kelly vows to ‘walk over broken glass’ to vote for Donald Trump after shooting incident

A gunman fired shots at Donald Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was injured in his right ear but was reported to be “safe".

He was quickly escorted off the stage with blood on his ear and cheek. He has since arrived back at his New Jersey residence.

According to Kelly, the United States stands at a crucial crossroads where it must avoid a future akin to “Venezuela on steroids”. She said that America could prevent its decline by reelecting Trump.

In a fervent declaration, Kelly said, “I’ve previously disclosed he will have my vote, and I am now one of the people who will walk over broken glass to make sure I cast my vote.”

She emphasized that she is not alone in her resolve, adding, “And I know I won’t be alone.”

Kelly’s comments were delivered against the backdrop of the tragic events of Saturday evening, when the shooting at Trump's rally in Pennsylvania left a rally-goer dead and injuring two others severely.

Reflecting on the chaos of the event, Kelly observed, “Thousands were in Butler, Pennsylvania, to hear Trump speak... The crowd included kids who just wanted to see the former president but ran for their lives five minutes into the speech after the shots were fired.”

Megyn Kelly highlights enduring American spirit despite violence and fear

Despite the violence and fear in the aftermath of the shooting incident, Megyn Kelly highlighted a symbol of enduring American spirit.

"....and yet much like 9/11, after it was all over, the American flag still waved," she said.

“That’s what it’s all about,” Kelly continued. “Our flag was still there. We’re still there. We’re still with each other. I just said this on July 4th. We are so lucky to have been born in this country. We hit the lottery. Our patriotism must be reignited for America.”

For Kelly, the path to rekindling this patriotism is through the election of Donald Trump.

“President Trump needs to win this election. Period. President Trump needs to win this election,” she asserted.

"It’s not about him anymore. It’s about us. And so I hope you’ll vote, and I hope you’ll vote Republican.”

Kelly’s impassioned remarks stand in stark contrast to the sentiments expressed by Sen Bernie Sanders in his Sunday morning interview on 'Meet the Press'.

Sanders argued for a more measured approach to political discourse, emphasizing the need for “a serious discussion of where we are as a nation and how we go forward".

He called for a focus on substantive issues rather than “radical rhetoric", suggesting that “politics should be kind of boring".
