WASHINGTON, DC: Megyn Kelly on Friday, April 17, mocked President Donald Trump for referring to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Iran,” calling it "the best Freudian slip he's had in weeks."
Kelly argued that the President is taking credit for reopening a strategic waterway that "was open before we even started the war."
Megyn Kelly mocks Trump’s new name for Hormuz
During the recent broadcast of her podcast, Megyn Kelly took aim at a social media post from Trump, criticizing the administration for inadvertently giving Iran more leverage over global trade than they had previously.
She remarked, "President Trump, in one of his posts today, called it 'The Strait of Iran,' which is probably, you know, the best Freudian slip he's had in weeks."

Kelly questions success of reopening the Strait
Furthermore, Kelly argued that the administration is taking credit for a status quo that existed long before the current conflict escalated.
"Yeah, it wasn't really before. It was an open, Strait of Hormuz, used by everybody in the Middle East and beyond. Now it's the Strait of Iran," Kelly observed.
She expressed concern that the conflict has actually empowered Tehran by highlighting their ability to choke global energy supplies, noting, "Now they've realised they've got an economic pressure point they can unleash on us."
She dismissed the idea of a tactical win, stating, "So now, yay, we're running the war by getting them to open up the Strait, which was open before we even started the war. Um, great."
Kelly slams inconsistencies in nuclear negotiations
Kelly also questioned the logic behind the latest nuclear negotiations, pointing out inconsistencies in how the administration describes the threat of Iranian "nuclear dust."
Kelly reminded her audience that the President had previously claimed the nuclear threat was buried and under constant surveillance.
She sarcastically addressed the new plan to transfer this material to a third party, saying, "And we're getting them to give their nuclear dust, which President Trump himself told us, was buried several feet underground, as a result of our bombing of the three nuclear sites, to maybe a third party, possibly back to us."
She noted the absurdity of treating this as a breakthrough now, adding, "He told us we didn't have to worry about it, because we have eyes on it via satellite, and it's all buried deep in the ground. But now it's a huge deal point that they're gonna give it to a third party. They gonna dig it up and give it to a third party. So, okay, great, great. Terrific.”
