QUANTICO, VIRGINIA: First Lady Melania Trump brought a touch of North Pole magic to the Marine Corps Base in Quantico on Monday, December 8. She was present for the annual 'Toys for Tots' charity drive with a very special guest in tow.

Touching down in a V-22 Osprey rather than the traditional sleigh, the first lady stepped onto the tarmac accompanied by Santa Claus, delighting the crowd of military families gathered for the holiday event.

"It's wonderful to join everyone here at Marine Corps Base Quantico," the first lady told the audience. "You might be wondering why Santa asked me to bring him here today? Well, this wonderful adventure is filled with Christmas sparkle and lots of love."

Melania Trump recounts Santa’s flight on her Osprey

Mrs Trump shared a whimsical account of their journey from the North Pole, explaining why Santa had traded his reindeer for military aircraft.

"With his sleigh parked safely with his reindeer, Santa climbed aboard my Osprey and couldn't stop smiling," she said. "I watched him gazing out of the window, grinning at all of the wonderful American families below."

She added a detail about the flight, noting, "Santa told me that the Osprey floated through the sky like a giant snowflake, but it is way faster than a sleigh could ever fly."

Reindeer resting for the big night

Addressing the children in the crowd who might be wondering about Dasher and Dancer, the first lady offered a reassuring update on the reindeer squad.

"Santa's reindeer, Rudolph, Dasher, Comet, all of them, they are resting in the North Pole," she explained for the kids. "They need to save all of their energy for their great flight around the world on Christmas Eve."

She then painted a cozy picture of their downtime, "Santa told me they are snuggled beneath warm fluffy blankets, sipping candy cane cocoa, feeling the joy and love that will soon be shared with amazing children everywhere."

Melania Trump urges families to wish for love this Christmas

Transitioning to a more heartfelt message, Melania Trump emphasized the spirit of the season, encouraging families present to look beyond material presents.

"This Christmas season, you, your friends, and your families should wish for the ultimate gift: love," she said.

"After all, love travels further than Santa's sleigh," she added.

The event highlighted the Marine Corps Reserve's long-standing 'Toys for Tots' program, which collected new, unwrapped toys to distribute to less fortunate children during the holidays.

The first lady thanked the service members for their dedication and joined Santa in greeting the families.

"Santa, where are you, Santa? Thank you for joining me," she concluded, bringing the festive figure forward to meet the children.
