NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former and incoming first lady Melania Trump brought a storm of criticism upon herself by promoting her own line of Christmas ornaments while appearing on the Friday, December 6 episode of 'Fox & Friends'.

According to Mediaite, the subject of the ornaments was brought up by co-host Lawrence Jones, after Melania mentioned that she designs and sells various "collectibles".

"Melania, you got the new season of your ornaments coming out, and this is how you pay for some of these kids’ colleges as well. Tell us about it,” said Jones, to which Melania replied, "With those, I have students from foster community that I sponsor and I’m very proud of."

While she had stated back in 2022 that a "portion" of the sales proceeds of her ornaments would go to charity, her organization did not respond to queries about its distribution.

The talk show on Fox seemingly turned into a televised promotion for Melania's ornaments, as she effortlessly switched gears to appear as a seasoned saleswoman.

"So these are the ornaments that are available this season. This is the third season that I design, and they are very special. For example, Lady Liberty, it was inspiration from my necklace that I bought when I was modeling in Paris. And now we have ornament. And we have also a necklace that is available on melaniatrump.com," she stated.

As the network co-hosts voiced their appreciation, the 54-year-old continued, "And they’re very patriotic this year. As you could see, it’s all red, white, and blue. And I was inspired by that."

"And they’re different each year, right, Melania? You discontinue them after each Christmas?" asked Jones, leading her to reply, "Correct. They discontinue, they retire, and this is available right now. And it’s a great gift and a great collectible."

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt promoted the coffee table books for the incoming first lady, saying, "You can also go on website and buy the coffee table books... So the smaller black book came out a few months ago, but then — still number one, I believe, it has been number one for a very long time — and then the book underneath the white book, which is larger, has more pictures in it and pictures that you took while you were First Lady. And that’s a great Christmas gift."

Internet trolls Melania for promoting Christmas ornaments on TV

Netizens were not pleased with Melania for 'grifting' on network television days ahead of resuming her role as the first lady. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"The grift is endless," wrote a user.

"Is there anything at all they won’t sell?" inquired another.

"This is scrapping the bottom," jibed a third.

"These opportunists will flog anything!!" exclaimed a fourth.

"This is f**king crazy, leave it to a Trump to turn a morning show into a flea market," stated a fifth.

"More junk made in China," alleged yet another.
