White House hosts first professional UFC event on South Lawn
The UFC transformed a large section of the White House South Lawn into a temporary arena centered around a towering structure known as "The Claw," which rose above portions of the White House complex. More than 4,000 guests attended the event, while additional spectators watched from viewing areas set up on the Ellipse.
The evening opened with a flyover by US Air Force and Navy aircraft as President Trump and Dana White made their entrance. The UFC card then began with a bout between Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia, with Lopes earning a second-round technical knockout victory.
The event was organized by Freedom 250, the commission established by President Trump through executive order to help oversee celebrations surrounding the country's upcoming semiquincentennial anniversary.
