WASHINGTON, DC: Melania Trump ushered in the Thanksgiving spirit in unmistakable style as she joined President Donald Trump for the annual White House turkey pardoning.

The first lady once again proved why her fashion moments at the historic event remain some of the most anticipated of the holiday season.

Melania, who famously leans into timeless elegance for official occasions, opted for a warm, head-to-toe brown palette this year, an outfit that blended luxury, fall tones, and a subtle “Top Gun” edge.

And while the ceremony marked the 78th National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation, all eyes were firmly on her meticulously coordinated ensemble.

For this year’s ceremony, Melania Trump showcased a refined mix of texture and tone. She paired a classic brown knit turtleneck with a sleek tweed pencil skirt designed by Ralph Lauren, embracing a silhouette that has long defined her public style.

But the standout piece of the morning was undoubtedly the glossy bomber jacket by LA-based Danish designer Anine Bing. The jacket styled with a slight aviation flair offered an updated twist on outerwear that Melania has previously gravitated toward.

It echoed the leather version she wore last month during her visit to Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia for a Salute to the Fleet celebration, which similarly leaned into the “Top Gun” aesthetic.

Her honey-blond highlights added warmth to the ensemble, creating a bright contrast against the deeper brown shades. Completing the look, Melania chose brown leather Manolo Blahnik heels, a brand she frequently turns to for its sleek lines and polished finish.

A tradition with a fashionable twist

While the ceremony itself centered on the annual pardoning ritual, Melania’s outfit has become a seasonal fashion moment in its own right. Each year, she selects a statement outerwear piece often high-fashion and eye-catching.

In 2017, she wore a floral brocade coat by Stella McCartney. The following year, she stepped out in a striking $9,000 color-blocked Dior coat paired with black Christian Louboutin boots. In 2019, she donned a refined Burberry trench, and in 2020, she chose a Dolce & Gabbana houndstooth wool tweed coat accompanied by cap-toe Manolo Blahnik heels.

This year's polished bomber jacket continued the tradition of thoughtful, elevated styling.

Gobble gets a pass as the Trumps head to Florida

The ceremonial focus of the day saw Donald Trump pardon a turkey named Gobble, though his companion, Waddle, was unable to attend. The lighthearted event marked his fifth Thanksgiving turkey pardon.

Each year, the turkeys are granted an official pardon by the US president, sending them away from the Thanksgiving table and instead to farms where they are protected and cared for.

Following the ceremony, the Trumps were scheduled to board Air Force One and travel to Mar-a-Lago to celebrate Thanksgiving with their extended family.
