Michael Madsen's son Luke pays tribute to 'coolest' dad after his death: 'My hero wore a cowboy hat'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Michael Madsen’s son, Luke Madsen, 19 has shared a moving tribute to his late father following the actor’s sudden death at age 67.
The 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Kill Bill' star was found unresponsive at his Malibu home on Thursday, July 3 due to suspected cardiac arrest.

In a touching Instagram post shared on Friday, July 4, Luke honored his father with words that painted a vivid picture of admiration and love.
He wrote, “Some Peoples Hero’s Wear Capes. And Fly Shooting Lasers Out Of Their Eyes. Some peoples Hero’s Can Fight Off Armies And Overcome Anything.”

Continuing the emotional note, he added, “My Hero Wore A Cowboy Hat. My Hero Stood Taller And Stronger Than Any Man I’ve Ever Met. My Hero Understood Me Better Than Anyone. My Hero Is The Coolest Most Badass Human Being I Know."

He wrote further, "Not Only Was My Hero A Famous Tough Guy Movie Star. My Hero Was My Father. And He Was. Damn Good One. Love You Pops.”
Luke ended his message with a personal farewell that also mentioned his late brother: “I’ll See You Again Someday. Tell Hudson I Said Hi,” referring to Hudson Madsen, who died in 2022 at the age of 26.
Michael Madsen died of cardiac arrest at Malibu home
Madsen was pronounced dead on July 3 after deputies from Los Angeles County responded to a 911 call at his home, as reported by NBC 4
“What we understand is Michael had a cardiac arrest and was found unresponsive in his Malibu home earlier this morning,” Ron Smith, Madsen’s manager, told People.
Madsen's sister, actress Virginia Madsen, took to Instagram on Thursday and shared a collage of photos of her brother.

Michael Madsen was excited about new films and his upcoming book
In a joint statement released by Madsen’s managers Ron Smith and Susan Ferris, along with publicist Liz Rodriguez, the team reflected on his recent work and plans for the future.

“In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film, including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” they said.
“Michael was also preparing to release a new book called Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, currently being edited,” they added.
