CONNECTICUT, UNITED STATES: Michelle Troconis, a Connecticut socialite and a suspected murder accomplice, was spotted driving her relatives to the airports in Newark and John F. Kennedy a few days after her trial for allegedly aiding her then-boyfriend in covering up the murder of his wife began.
Troconis, 49, is accused of plotting to kill, obstructing the prosecution, and tampering with evidence in relation to the alleged murder of Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five who was last seen in May 2019.
Michelle Troconis gave press conference before trial
When Jennifer, 50, vanished, Troconis was seeing Fotis Dulos, who was going through a difficult divorce and custody dispute with Jennifer. Troconis was seen on Saturday, January 13, heading out of her Stamford rental house and dropping off a relative at Newark Airport.
Troconis had been spotted giving a press conference outside the courtroom prior to her trial starting on Thursday, January 11.
Around Saturday noon, while her father, Carlos Troconis, assisted in unloading bags from her car, Troconis was spotted giving the female relative a long embrace while wearing oversized sunglasses, a striped shirt, and baggy jeans.
After driving to John F. Kennedy Airport from Newark, Troconis was spotted hugging and bidding farewell to another female relative. The suspect murder accomplice spent roughly three hours driving around doing the drop-offs.
Troconis' father informed reporters on Thursday that their family "know[s] that [Troconis] is innocent."
"We trust that this is a fair trial and that the result is favorable for everybody," he stated.
According to CT Insider, Troconis' curfew and house arrest were lifted in September 2020. The suspected accomplice's request to have her GPS ankle monitor taken off was granted by a judge in April.
Does Michelle Troconis need permission for airport drop-offs?
In 2019, Troconis was granted a request to leave the state to pick her daughter up from the airport - it is unclear whether she got or needed advance permission to leave Connecticut for her series of airport drop-offs over the weekend, Fox News reported.
Jurors watched body camera footage of New Canaan Police Department officers conducting a welfare check at Jennifer Dulos' home on May 24, 2019, the day she was reported missing, during the first day of Troconis' trial on January 11.
Jurors were shown pictures on Friday, January 12, of approximately $2,000 in cash, $100 bills at a time, arranged in a neat line next to the other items in Jennifer Dulos' purse that had been discovered by police next to her unlocked Welles Lane rental in New Canaan.
According to the Independent, the bag also contained credit cards, ID, checks, insurance, and keys. A picture of Jennifer's five children, to whom her family claims she was incredibly devoted, was placed next to the purse.
On the night of Jennifer's May 24, 2019, disappearance, Fotis Dulos and Troconis were caught on camera stopping at trash receptacles along Albany Avenue in Hartford.
According to their arrest warrants, police subsequently found trash bags filled with clothing and other household items that had been later determined to be Jennifer's.
Following his indictment in 2020 for Jennifer's murder, Fotis died by suicide. He had maintained his innocence and accused his estranged wife of staging her own murder in an absurd 'Gone Girl'-style scheme.
If the weather permits, Troconis will make her next appearance in state Superior Court in Stamford on Tuesday, January 16.
