ATLANTA, GEORGIA: In a bombshell post-show accusation, former Trump official Miles Taylor alleged that there are two very different versions of conservative commentator Scott Jennings when he discusses President Donald Trump.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, March 24, after appearing on CNN 'NewsNight', Taylor claimed Jennings is far more critical of Trump off-camera than he appears during live broadcasts.

The charge quickly drew attention given Jennings’ reputation as a vocal Trump defender on the network.

Miles Taylor's fierce charge against Jennings

In his criticism, Taylor framed Jennings as emblematic of a broader political dynamic.

“You know who’s a perfect metaphor for the GOP? Scott Jennings. A pundit who mocks Trump with us during commercial breaks but fawns over Trump when the camera is rolling,” Taylor wrote.

He followed it up with another pointed line: “Brave enough to speak out… in the green room.”

The timing of the post coming immediately after their joint appearance at CNN the night before suggested the accusation was rooted in their real-time interaction, both on and off the air.

Taylor did not reveal the details of what exactly Jennings said.

Miles Taylor and Scott Jennings clash on CNN

The CNN Newsnight segment aired on Monday, March 23 itself was anything but calm.

Taylor and Jennings repeatedly collided over policy, particularly on immigration enforcement and the ongoing Iran conflict.

At one point, Jennings pressed Taylor with a pointed question “Do you think that the Ayatollah prefers his life under Obama or under Trump? Probably Obama, yes?”

Taylor fired back bluntly saying “The Ayatollah’s dead.”

Jennings responded with sarcasm saying, “There you go. You heard it here first” as the exchange spiraled into both men speaking over each other.

The tension continued across multiple moments in the discussion.

When debating Trump’s Iran strategy, Taylor argued “I want our objectives met too. I want it done in a thoughtful way. This president did not approach this in a thoughtful way. He did not game it out.”

Jennings countered with a sharp retort “How much longer should we wait? Another 47 years?”

Jennings and Taylor clash over ICE

Jennings and Taylor also sparred over specific claims related to ICE enforcement.

Jennings challenged reports of misconduct.

“Is there a single report today of something going awry with ICE agents. Well, thank God, for 24 hours, something bad didn't happen.”

Taylor pushed back with an example “There was an ICE agent refusing to identify himself, arresting a woman in an airport, freaking people out.”

Jennings questioned the details. “What kind of an interaction was it, actually? Do you know the situation?”

To which Taylor responded, “It was an arrest. I don't know, Scott. What information do you have? Who did they arrest?”

Another tense moment came when Taylor referenced conversations with international contacts saying “And our allies tonight even told me in meetings that because Donald Trump kept shifting his objectives.”

Jennings immediately pressed him “Who was it?” Taylor deflected “ I'll tell you when the president tells us who he's negotiating with.”

Scott Jennings' past criticism of Trump

In earlier years, he openly criticized Trump, once describing him as “an authoritarian” and raising concerns about his grasp of constitutional principles.

Following the January 6 Capitol riots, Jennings also accused Trump of inciting unrest, calling it a serious and unacceptable moment. Even more recently, he has reiterated that January 6 was a “bad day” that “should never happen again.”

He has also, at times, disagreed with specific remarks by Trump including distancing himself from controversial comments involving Rob Reiner, saying, “I disagree with the statement. I wish he hadn’t made it.”
