Miley Cyrus reveals she never understood why Dolly Parton had a bathtub on tour
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Miley Cyrus revealed that she never understood why Dolly Parton had a bathtub on tour, as she discussed her approach to sleeping while touring during a conversation with Zane Lowe at Apple Music’s Los Angeles studio released on September 18.
Ahead of the release of her new album 'Bass Persuades,' Cyrus also opened up about her upcoming 'Hollywood Bowl shows' and the influence her godmother, Parton, has had on her music.
Miley Cyrus recalls Dolly Parton’s unusual tour bus comfort
Cyrus recalled how her godmother, Parton, approached comfort while touring. Unlike the Cyrus family’s focus on recreating a familiar bed, Parton had a bathtub on her tour bus.
Cyrus said she was confused by the setup and wondered when Parton would actually use it.
She wondered whether Parton took baths in a parking lot or while the bus was on the freeway, adding that if she used it in a parking lot, she could simply stay at a hotel.
Lowe assured Cyrus that the bathtub on the bus was legitimate and described the bath as serious.
Cyrus responded with “Splish splash,” although she remained unconvinced about the practicality of the arrangement, particularly when the bus was turning corners.
She also joked that if Parton was parked somewhere, she could simply go into the Four Seasons instead, before acknowledging that Parton was staying on the bus.
Cyrus further added, “We are, like I said: We are different people.”
'Bass Persuades' was released Friday, September 18, with Cyrus set to perform two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18, featuring special guest rock band MODEL/ACTRIZ.
Miley Cyrus shares her personal 'bed recipe'
During the conversation, Cyrus also explained that she has what she calls a “bed recipe,” describing it as a personal formula for arranging a bed.
She compared it to making a donut, explaining that different people have their own way of preparing things and that everyone can have their own “bed recipe.”
Cyrus has developed her own formula down to a science and even has different versions depending on the situation. She offered Lowe what she described as his “bed AI,” promising to tell him his bed recipe so he could sleep amazingly and thank her later.
Her interest in bedding appears to run in the family. Cyrus explained that her mother, Tish Cyrus, has long been known for having particularly good bedding.
The singer, known for 'Flowers,' believes she has now surpassed her mother, calling the preference a “totally genetic thing.”
That dedication to comfortable bedding also carried over to the Cyrus family’s touring days.
Cyrus recalled that her mother was extremely particular about recreating the family’s bed while they were on tour.
When she or her father would tour, Tish would have a bed made exactly like their bed at home and placed on the tour bus so they could sleep in their own bed.
