WASHINGTON, DC: Co-chair of Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign Mitch Landrieu criticized former president Donald Trump for selecting Senator JD Vance as his running mate.

Landrieu said Vace is "not ready" for the office in an interview on Thursday, August, 8.

Mitch Landrieu says Donald Trump's character is 'where it needs to be'

Mitch Landrieu said Donald Trump's character, despite all the things that have happened to him, is where it needs to be.

“The fact of the matter is, Donald Trump’s character is right where it needs to be,” Landrieu said on MSNBC, adding that "people can never forget of all the things that have happened to him."

Besides, "whether or not he’s fit for office." He added, "He also has a vice-presidential candidate that’s not right, he’s not ready, and he’s, he’s not real," reffering to JD Vance.

"So, I put Tim Walz and Kamala Harris against those two guys any day of the week,” he added, according to The Hill

Mitch Landrieu says Donald Trump is still 'unfit' for presidency

Mitch Landrieu also pointed out that the former president is finding it difficult to attack Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race.

“He’s still unfit for the presidency, and he is really grabbing for straws right now and trying to find a way to make Kamala Harris and Tim Walz look bad, but they’re having a hard time doing it,” he said.

Vance has faced scrutiny in the weeks since joining the Republican ticket, especially since his previous comments about “childless cat ladies” resurfaced.

Following the public backlash, some Republican senators were divided over Trump sticking to Vance as his running mate. His inexperience in handling foreign policy was also reportedly a cause of concern among several Republicans.

According to the Washington Post, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) tried to talk Trump out of picking Vance while aboard Trump’s plane en route to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

JD Vance trolls Kamala Harris in front of Air Force One

JD Vance has also come into his defense calling Kamala Harris a “million times worse” than President Joe Biden during a Virginia rally a week after Donald Trump picked him as his running mate.

“Now, history will remember Joe Biden as not just a quitter, which he is, but one of the worst presidents of the United States of America. But my friends, Kamala Harris is a million times worse, and everybody knows it," he said.

Vance also trolled Harris as he approached Air Force Two “to check out” the plane after both he and the vice president landed at the same airport on Wednesday, August 7, in Wisconsin.

The Harris campaign responded by calling him “weird” and by posting an edit of his plane arriving on TikTok.

"I figured that I would come by and get a good look at the plane because hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months,” Vance said in front of Air Force Two.

"I also thought you guys may get lonely, because the VP doesn’t answer questions from reporters," he said.

One more expressed, "Hat’s actually a Vance endorsement."

"Harris not right, not ready for Presidency. But it's Obama's 3rd term so," mocked one.

"Kamala isn’t ready for the office of the president, she refuses to do interviews, answer questions or even debate. She is useless," wrote another.
