WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell compared President Joe Biden’s proposed Supreme Court reforms to the violent January 6, 2021, attacks on the US Capitol.

Further, he made fun of his own party by claiming that Democrats had performed better overall.

Mitch McConnell suggests 'not breaking rules with SC reforms'

McConnell disparaged President Joe Biden's proposal for reforming the Supreme Court as an attempt to weaken the court itself.

“That’s what some people were trying to do Jan 6 — to break the system of handing an administration from one to the next,” McConnell said in the interview with Punch Bowl, referring to the proposed reforms.

“We can have our arguments, but we ought to not try to break the rules," he added.

In her lifetime she was an activist and writer known to be an advocate for the elderly, affordable housing, mental health, and the protection of monarch butterflies. The reforms that Biden has backed include 18-year term limits which would allow a president to appoint a new justice every two years, alongside a binding code of conduct.

McConnell said earlier this week that the term limits will end up “dead on arrival” in the legislative branch.

Earlier in an interview, McConnell said that the term limits will end up “dead on arrival” in Congress.

“I couldn’t be more disappointed. This is a man who was chairman of the Judiciary Committee for a long time," he said at the time.

"He absolutely knows what he recommended is unconstitutional, to try to limit the terms of the Supreme Court justices who under the Constitution are appointed for life,” McConnell added.

Why Mitch McConnell dismay's Trump's running mate JD Vance ?

McConnell, who has long despised former president Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance’s worldview, when asked if he’s dismayed at the selection, told the publication in the interview, “It’s not my job to tell the president who he ought to run."

He accepted, "With regard to Sen Vance… yeah, we have a different point of view.” McConnell said the foreign policy doctrine Vance and others in his party believe in is “nonsense,” adding, “I mean, even the slogans are what they were in the 30s — ‘America First.’”

Even while criticizing Democrats over the Supreme Court, he poked at his own party — referring here to the fact that Republicans have lost several winnable Senate races in recent cycles.

“The way you win the argument is to get more people elected,” McConnell said, adding “And [Democrats] have done a better job of that over the years than we have.”

Internet reacts to Mitch McConnell's remarks comparing SCOTUS reforms to the January 6 Capitol attack

The comparison of Supreme Court reforms to January 6 roits made by McConnell were mostly found "weird" as people seemed to be taken back.

"So forcing Supreme Court Justices to follow a code of ethics and imposing term limits is tantamount to a violent, anti-democratic protest that led to multiple deaths? McConnell is not a serious politician," wrote one on X.

Another one wrote, "Hilarious comparison to January 6. He couldn't be bothered to hold Trump accountable for Jan 6, so clearly he has little concern about Biden's SCOTUS plan."

One said, "McConnell is deeply shameful." Another wrote it was "Idiocy" while one remarked, "That's weird!"

"Creepy old turtle doesn't like the idea of Supreme Court reforms. He only likes when he is the one manipulating the courts," wrote another.

"One of the most dangerous and worst Senators in history. Can't wait for his time to be up in the Senate," one more added.
