DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: A Massachusetts father has decided to run the Boston Marathon on Sunday, April 14, in honor of his three children who were strangled—possibly by their mother.

Duxbury resident Patrick Clancy is also participating in the 26.2-mile trek to raise money for Boston Children's Hospital, the hospital where his children took their last breath.

Patrick Clancy will run the marathon wearing 'happy Callan' bracelet

Patrick Clancy said on the website of Boston Children's Hospital, "My kids brought me so much joy and couldn't have made their dad prouder."

“It goes without saying that losing them has been devastating and it’s a heartbreak that I’ll live with forever, but I’ve committed myself to honoring their memory by trying to bring positive change."

“In many ways, I’m just trying to be more like them. Their passion in life was infectious.”

The three children of Clancy, Callan, seven months old, Dawson, 3, and Cora, 5, were slain in January 2023.

Before leaping out of a second-story window, their mother Lindsay Clancy, who was said to be experiencing postpartum psychosis or depression, is said to have strangled the children at their house.

Patrick Clancy had raised $48,310 of the $50,000 he had set out to raise for the hospital as of Friday, April 12 night. According to a statement, he will be running the marathon while sporting his "Happy Callan" bracelet and a resin replica of his kids' handprints, as reported by New York Post.

Patrick Clancy expressed worries about his wife's mental state

Clancy recalled that his daughter had a fondness for babies and enjoyed playing with them, describing her as "brave." He shared that she often expressed her aspirations to become a "doctor and a mama."

Dawson, Clancy's 3-year-old son, was described as "one of the friendliest toddlers you'd ever meet," with a love for "his family, fire trucks, and Paw Patrol." He had a knack for "bringing smiles to people's faces."

Clancy reminisced about missing his son's laughter and described his youngest as a "happy baby." The Duxbury native expressed gratitude to Boston Children's Hospital for granting him "a little more time with my boy," noting that Callan had spent his final moments in his father's arms there.

Three days after the incident, the baby passed away, and upon arrival at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, his sister and brother were declared deceased.

“I know he would have done great things in this world,” the father said of Callan.

Earlier than the killings, Clancy had expressed worries to friends about his wife Lindsay Clancy's mental state. According to court records, he had told a college friend that he believed Lindsay was being "prescribed too many medications."

Along with pleading with the public to "forgive" his wife, he said that she was "generously loving and caring toward everyone" and that she was not that person.

Internet slammed Lindsay Clancy

Following the news of Patrick participating in the marathon, which went viral on Facebook after the tragic death of his three children by their mother, netizens began criticizing Lindsay.

A user dubbed her "awful" and praised Patrick "That mom is awful. Glad the dad is pushing forward and helping a charitable cause."

Another user observed that Patrick expects the public to forgive his wife, stating, "He wants the public to forgive the mother?! Hard pass."

A commentator sent prayers for Patrick, saying, "Prayers to you. I don’t know how you survive every day. Stay strong."

"And how can the dad take care of these three kids, it really heartbreaking," another person wrote showing concern.
