NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hollywood acting legend Morgan Freeman is doing "fine" notwithstanding a recent video showing him appearing weak while strolling through New York City, reports said.

The 86-year-old was seen in the video trudging across a sidewalk to get to a waiting SUV, where a helper gently assisted him into the back seat, as reported by Radar Online.

'Morgan's health has been deteriorating'

A source provided Radar Online with information about the health state of the 'Dark Knight' star, saying, "Morgan's health has been deteriorating to the point where he can barely walk on his own — and when he does it's measured steps."

The insider went on, "He's clearly in a lot of pain and everyone is concerned for his welfare. But Morgan isn't one to complain. He gets through it somehow with a grimace. And he never forgets to wave at fans."

"But the fear is he won't be able to take much more of this." The source continued, "He's in constant agony and trapped in his own body. It must be horrible for him."

However, dismissing the unsettling rumor, a representative for the actor assured the outlet that "Morgan is in fine health."

Morgan Freeman's latest health updates

Hollywood icon and award-winning actor Morgan Freeman is recognized for his distinctive voice and dignified acting abilities.

The 'Shawshank Redemption' actor and co-stars Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana were reportedly forced to miss the London screening of their Paramount+ series 'Special Ops: Lioness' in the summer of 2022 due to a contagious virus.

Freeman's battle with fibromyalgia, a longstanding illness that causes pain, stiffness, exhaustion, and melancholy, is compounded by his most recent health dramas.

Freeman is believed to have acquired the condition after a near-fatal car accident in 2008. His left hand became paralyzed after the accident, so he had to wear a compression glove to maintain blood flow.

Emergency medical technicians had to use the jaws of life to extract Freeman from his car when it crashed and rolled over while he was driving in 2008.

The actor was rushed to a Memphis hospital for a four-and-a-half-hour surgery after suffering multiple fractured bones in the car accident.

Four years after the car accident, journalist Tom Chiarella spoke with the 'Invictus' star for his 2012 Esquire article, detailing the long-term injuries Freeman suffered.

Chiarella wrote, "It hurts when he walks, when he sits still, when he rises from the couch, and when he missteps in a damp meadow."

"More than pain, it seems a kind of agony, though he never mentions it. Despite surgery to repair nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand, stiffly gripped by a compression glove most of the time to ensure that blood doesn't pool there," the article read.

The 'Million Dollar Baby' star claimed that his suffering had a specific cause. "It's the fibromyalgia," revealed Freeman at the time. "Up and down the arm. That's where it gets so bad. Excruciating."

The 86-year-old actor still wears the device to avoid difficulties, though it has been 15 years since the accident.

Morgan's fibromyalgia flare-ups have persisted since the tragic event, appearing at the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Academy Awards.
