LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Legendary actor Morgan Freeman's appearance at the 2025 Academy Awards drew concerns over his health amid news that he has been working nonstop.

His frail and unsteady presence reignited fears that the 87-year-old Oscar winner is more fragile than he lets on, Radar Online has revealed.

Morgan Freeman has 'good days and bad days' amid battle with fibromyalgia

Morgan Freeman, known for his commanding presence on screen, appeared deeply moved as he honored his longtime friend and fellow Hollywood icon Gene Hackman during the ceremony.

However, insiders say the actor looked as though he was ready to "throw in the towel," sparking renewed speculation about his health.

Freeman has never shied away from discussing his longstanding struggle with fibromyalgia, a chronic and incurable condition that causes severe pain, fatigue, and cognitive issues.

However, his dedication to his craft is undeniable. He has three upcoming projects, including the much-anticipated heist thriller 'Now You See Me 3'.

However, his nonstop work schedule has raised concerns among those close to him. "Morgan has good days and bad days," said the insider. "Everyone is glad to see him staying active, but he is working nonstop, and that's a worry."

"It's no secret that he deals with a lot of health issues. His mobility has never been the same, he's in constant pain, he's tired, and he can't stand for very long," a source shared.

"He's still wearing a special glove because of nerve damage that paralyzed his hand. Certainly, he's getting the best treatment possible to improve the quality of his life. But beyond medication and therapies, there is no cure for fibromyalgia," they added.

The 'Shawshank Redemption' star developed the disorder after surviving a near-fatal car accident in 2008, an event that drastically altered his life.

The devastating car accident that changed everything

Morgan Freeman's 2008 accident was a life-altering event. He was behind the wheel of a 1997 Nissan Maxima belonging to a friend when he suddenly passed out and lost control.

A witness described the terrifying scene, noting, "It was very bad. I rolled the car over. I think it tumbled."

According to an insider, Freeman "never completely recovered" from the devastating crash, and "never will."

The wreck left his left hand permanently paralyzed, forcing him to wear a compression glove to stimulate blood flow and ease his "excruciating" nerve pain.

"I suffered nerve damage, and it hasn't gotten better," Freeman admitted.

Following the crash, he also required a pacemaker, adding to the list of health challenges he faces daily.

While fibromyalgia and nerve damage are at the forefront of the actor's health concerns, his ailments don’t stop there.

In 2023, he had to skip a major event in London for his Paramount+ series 'Special Ops: Lioness', where he was set to appear alongside Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana, due to a contagious infection.

Despite these challenges, Freeman remains as active as ever.
