PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) slammed the Department of Justice (DOJ) for making public the letters written by Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the apparent second assassination attempt of Donald Trump, on Monday, September 23.

The content of the letters can be classified as disturbing, as one even offers a bounty for taking out the former president and GOP presidential nominee.

Greene shared an image of the letter on X (formerly Twitter) "The DOJ released a letter written by Ryan Wesley Routh offering $150,000 to anyone who could 'finish the job' on President Trump," she wrote.

"The DOJ, which is trying to put Trump in prison, is now offering a bounty on Trump’s head by releasing this," she continued. "Why else would they release this?"

What did Ryan Routh's letters state?

The DOJ reportedly received a box containing numerous handwritten letters and other assorted items by Ryan Routh from a witness, who claimed that it was dropped at his home by the suspected gunman months ahead of the incident.

In one of the letters addressed to "the World", Routh apologized for a failed assassination attempt on Trump and wrote, "I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job, and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job."

He also labeled Trump as "unfit to be anything, much less a US president," before adding, "US presidents must at bare minimum embody the moral fabric that is America, and be kind, caring and selfless and always stand for humanity. Trump fails to understand any of that."

Conservatives slam DOJ for quickly releasing Ryan Routh's letters

Conservatives have slammed the DOJ for being quick to release Ryan Routh's letters but attempting to delay the release of the diaries of Audrey Hale, the 28-year-old transgendered school shooter who killed three children and three adults at Nashville's Covenant School in March 2023.

Law enforcement officials took her out on site, but the handwritten diaries found in her car were released over a year later in June 2024, according to the Tennessee Star. They reportedly contained her desire to transition into a man and enjoy male autonomy.

"So the DOJ will immediately release a bounty letter from the Florida Trump assassin offering a $150k bounty to take out Trump, but wouldn’t release the Nashville Trans Terrorist Manifesto for over a year?" an X user asked. "The DOJ needs a MASSIVE overhaul."

DOJ faces backlash after MTG's tweet criticizing them

People on the internet, especially conservatives, called out the DOJ over the prompt release of Ryan Routh's letters on X.

"How the HELL can the Feds say the Nashville (manifesto) is 'too dangerous' but advertising a bounty on Trump’s head is not?" asked one person.

"The DOJ needs a massive defunding!" exclaimed another.

"This is the DOJ effectively putting a bounty on his head," noted a third.

"They don't even try to hide the double standards anymore," remarked a fourth.

"They’ve got their priorities all mixed up!" added another.

"The deep state DOJ knows exactly what they are doing," shared one individual.
