Pine, who later worked in Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Wonder Women’ and ‘Star Trek’, recalled the experience that served as the stepping stone for his illustrious Hollywood career.

He was booked to play the love interest of Anne Hathaway’s character Princess Mia’s love interest in the 2004 romantic comedy, per Today.

The ‘Wish’ actor revealed to Geist in the interview, “It was the height of summer and I was getting off at Magnolia. I was on my little Verizon tiny little flip phone, my silver one and I got a call from my agents that I booked the job.”

Pine revealed he received $65,000 for the job, while recalling, “I pulled over onto the side of the freeway and they said, ‘You’re getting paid $65,000.'”

He described the feeling was “Earth-shattering,” as he explained, “And it was like they had just told me I’d made $50 million. It was absolutely Earth-shattering.”

Pine shared that before he bagged the role, he was booked for a couple of commercials and read a few lines with Sally Field in ‘ER’. It was his getting booked for ‘The Princess Diaries 2’ that made him feel like he actually "started working."

The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ star continued, “I got that $65,000 and I just remember distinctly knowing in that moment that my life had changed somehow, even though $60,000 at the end of the day turned out to be about $15,000.”

As it happens with many, the first big salary gets depleted in just blink of an eye, the same happened with Pine as well. He admitted “That lasted no time at all.”

Prior to receiving the call, Pine revealed he had an overdraft of $400 in his bank account and thought of borrowing money from his parents.

The star recalled, “And I owed my parents rent money. But that is a wild feeling. I’ll never forget that.”
