WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic California State Sen. Scott Wiener was confronted by pro-Palestine activists during San Francisco's annual Trans March, where demonstrators criticized his position on the Israel-Gaza conflict as he seeks to succeed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in Congress.

The incident took place on Friday, June 26, when Wiener attended the event but was met by a group of masked activists who shouted at him and followed him as he walked away.

The confrontation comes as the progressive lawmaker heads into the general election after emerging as the front-runner in the race for Pelosi's longtime congressional seat.

Videos from the march showed Wiener being surrounded by demonstrators who challenged him over his stance on Gaza.

One person recording the exchange initially acknowledged the senator's work on transgender rights before turning critical, saying, "You've been terrible, you've been terrible on Gaza. You do not belong here anymore, Scott. And it breaks my fking heart."

As Wiener continued walking away, several people in the crowd shouted profanities and accused him of failing the city's progressive community.

Others repeatedly voiced support for Palestine while continuing to criticize the Democratic lawmaker.

Footage from the scene was later shared online by Dimitry Yakoushkin, who wrote, "Scott Wiener showed up to the trans march and for the first time we kicked his a out."

The videos quickly circulated on social media, drawing fresh attention to Wiener during his congressional campaign.

Second encounter came just days before the march

The Trans March confrontation followed another public encounter involving Wiener earlier in the week.

Two days before the event, activist Jesus "Frisco Lens" Coba filmed himself approaching the senator inside the Napper Tandy Irish Bar while a World Cup match was on television.

In the video, Coba can be heard telling Wiener, "Wiener, you gotta get the fk up out my hood, bro. It's free Palestine here."

According to the information provided, the clip attracted more than 198,000 Instagram views within a day, extending the online attention surrounding the senator.

The back-to-back confrontations have kept the focus on Wiener's views regarding the Israel-Gaza conflict as his campaign continues.

Congressional race enters a new phase

The incidents come at a significant moment in Wiener's bid to replace Nancy Pelosi in Congress.

The California senator finished the June primary with a commanding lead and is now set to face Supervisor Connie Chan in the November general election.

Chan has received Pelosi's endorsement in the race.

According to the information provided, Wiener changed his position on the conflict earlier this year after previously declining to characterize Israel's military campaign using stronger language.
