WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Bernie Sanders launched a sharp attack on President Donald Trump, calling him the "narcissist in chief" for prioritizing a hardline Iran policy over the economic struggles of American citizens.

The criticism came after Trump told a reporter that the financial situation of Americans does "not even a little bit" influence his decision-making regarding the Iranian nuclear threat. Following the viral remark, several other Democrats joined in the criticism, claiming the President's comments prove he is more concerned with personal gain and foreign policy than the economic needs of the working class.

Bernie Sanders slams Trump’s priorities

Taking to X, Senator Bernie Sanders claimed that Trump is more interested in his personal wealth than the working class.

"Of course, Trump, the narcissist in chief, doesn't think about the financial situation of Americans," Sanders wrote.

"To Trump, it doesn't matter that the working class is struggling economically. What matters to Trump is that his family got $4 billion richer since he was elected. That's it."

Other Democrats joined in the attack, with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggesting Trump is too distracted by his own business deals to help the country.

"I mean, I'm sure he's very focused on his own financial situation and how he's going to enrich himself off of all of these kinds of extortionary deals," she remarked.

"I don't see how he has time to think about the financial prospects of the American working class when he's spending all his time thinking about how to enrich himself."

Democrats weaponize Trump’s focus on Iran

It is to be noted that the backlash was sparked by a specific exchange where a reporter asked Trump, "What extent are Americans’ financial situation motivating you to make a deal?"

Trump responded by focusing strictly on national security, “Not even a little bit. The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran — they can’t have a nuclear weapon. I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing — we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all.”

Nancy Pelosi quickly attacked this statement to claim that Trump is indifferent to the public.

"Has it ever been clearer that Donald Trump doesn't care about you? As he said, not even a little bit," Pelosi said.

Representative Jamie Raskin also took a sarcastic shot at the President, saying, "I always thought he was so concerned about how working-class people were doing in his wretched economy... He doesn't view the government as an instrument for the well-being of the people. He views the government as an instrument for private self-enrichment and corruption."

The attacks continued with Representative Jim McGovern, who accused Trump of ignoring "regular people" in favor of his own properties. McGovern used harsh language to claim that Trump’s primary interests are his personal luxuries rather than the needs of the American people.

"Is anybody surprised? I've been saying all along that Donald Trump doesn't give a shit about the regular people in this country," McGovern declared.

"I'll tell you what he does care about. He cares about his ballroom. By the way, the American people are spending a billion dollars of their taxpayer dollars to fund it. He cares about his golf course. He cares about the reflecting pool. He cares about his arches. He cares about things that somehow benefit Donald Trump. But he does not give a damn about the American people," he added.
