LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: NBC Los Angeles reporter Robert Kovacik has earned the ire of the internet for interviewing actor Dennis Quaid while he was trying to evacuate from his home in Brentwood amid raging wildfires, the Daily Mail reported on Sunday, January 12.

The interview clip has since gone viral across social media platforms. It shows Kovacik and his cameraman walking up to the 70-year-old celebrity while he is packing up his car and start asking questions.

Dennis Quaid appeared composed on camera despite the urgency of the situation and politely answered all questions posed to him, according to VT.

“We've all had a really big lesson... that our experience of reality can change in a moment," he shared. “We’ve had it lucky, I have so many friends who have lost (their) houses. We’re fighting as hard as we can to save our city.”

"I came back just in case I hadn't shut off the gas, you know, all those little things you don't think of, and just thought, maybe I could be there to put a hose on the roof if the embers come over at least. Something like that, or help out the neighbors."

Kovacik tried to keep the interview going even as cars honked and sirens blred in the background, and fire firefighters walked around them staring.

At one point, the reporter even knocked on Quaid's car window after the actor had got on and was getting ready to drive away, to interview him and his dog.

Internet slams Robert Kovacik for Dennis Quaid's interview

Netizens were furious with Robert Kovacik for interrupting Dennis Quaid for an extended period as he was trying to evacuate an emergency. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Not them interviewing Dennis Quaid while he frantically tries to pack his belongings to evacuate," wrote a user.

"I’m embarrassed for the guy interviewing Dennis Quaid on the news. He’s trying to evacuate just like everyone else and you’re trying to make him your BFF," another criticized.

"Watching Dennis Quad try to shove a hamper full of clothes into his car, while a starstruck reporter keeps bugging him, is one of the weirdest things I've seen during the LA fire coverage," shared a third.

"I just watched the most cringe news segment of my life. It was surreal and bizarre. The NBC LA livestream reporter would not stop dogging Dennis Quaid while he was packing his car to evacuate. He even knocked on his car window after he rolled it up. Insane harassment," expressed a fourth.

"This interview was an odd mix of bizarre, comical, touching, and somewhat uncomfortable… but what I learned from it is that Dennis Quaid seems like a very nice fella," observed a fifth.

"I became an instant new fan of Quaid’s. What a standup dude (and especially how sweet he was with his scared dog) in such a stressful moment," commented yet another.
