Nev Schulman talks about the horrific bike accident
Nev Schulman spoke about his bike accident on Instagram, saying that after enjoying a pleasant day of fishing with his family the previous Sunday, he had to pick up his child from school the following day.
He further revealed on Saturday, August 10, that he was heading to pick up his two-year-old son Cy from school on Monday, August 5, when the crash with a truck happened.
He wrote in the caption, "I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike. “In fact in some ways, I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone on impact. Me and the truck. And then I guess the pavement. I was alone and unconscious. Maybe I was fine (I wasn’t). Maybe I can still do my long run on Thursday (I couldn’t)."
"I broke my neck," he added. "C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS."

He continued, "It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from the doctors about how many people with similar injuries will never walk again."
He remarked, "I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery. And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward."
A trigger warning for the footage showing "medical trauma and severe injury" was included on Schulman's post's first slide. Schulman's videos show him wearing a neck brace as he gently stands up and then moves cautiously along a hallway.
He shared images of his hospitalized neck injury scans, the scar from his surgery on the back of his neck, and the damaged helmet he was wearing at the time of the collision.
Schulman and his wife Laura Perlongo have three children -- Cleo, 7, Beau, 5, and Cy, 2. In another video that he posted, he is shown approaching his children gently, who then give him hugs.
