LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a heated exchange on Fox News' 'Gutfeld!' show, Charlamagne Tha God didn't hold back in his condemnation of former President Donald Trump, branding him as a peril to democracy.

The co-host of 'The Breakfast Club' didn't mince his words as he discussed Trump's ongoing legal battles, particularly in light of Robert De Niro's recent remarks advocating for President Joe Biden's reelection campaign.

Charlamagne Tha God's bold stand against Donald Trump

According to Mediaite, embracing the label of 'Trump Derangement Syndrome', Charlamagne didn't shy away from expressing his deep concerns about the former president's actions.

“Let the record show, I totally agree with Robert De Niro,” Charlamagne said. “I am one of the people who suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. I think he is a threat to democracy. I think that he led an attempted coup of this country. You know, he said he wanted to suspend the Constitution to overthrow the results of an election. At the least, that’s just not a patriotic thing to say.”

Charlamagne's accusations didn't stop there. He pointed out Trump's controversial statements, including his call to suspend the Constitution to overturn the results of the election.

This assertion, made by Trump in 2022, has sparked widespread controversy. Despite host Greg Gutfeld's skepticism, Charlamagne stood firm, citing Trump's remarks on Truth Social, the former president's social media platform.

"Let the record show, I totally agree with Robert De Niro,” Charlamagne said. “I am one of the people who suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. I think he is a threat to democracy. I think that he led an attempted coup of this country. You know, he said he wanted to suspend the Constitution to overthrow the results of an election. At the least, that’s just not a patriotic thing to say."

Charlamagne Tha God stands firm as Gutfeld questions Trump's allegations

The exchange intensified as Charlamagne reiterated Trump's alarming comments, while Gutfeld appeared incredulous. "He absolutely said that on Truth Social," Charlamagne noted.

"I will look that up," the host replied. "He wanted to suspend the Constitution?" Charlamagne affirmed, "He said we should suspend the Constitution to overthrow the results of the election."

However, the discussion underscored the deep divisions regarding Trump's legacy and the interpretation of his words.

Trump's legal woes have only added fuel to the fire. Facing indictments in Georgia and federal court in Washington, DC, over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, Trump's actions have come under intense scrutiny. "He said it on Truth Social, then said he didn’t say it," Charlamagne continued, before expressing doubts about Trump's willingness to leave office if re-elected.

The climax of Trump's tumultuous presidency came on January 6, 2021, when a violent mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol, resulting in a deadly riot and a temporary disruption of the certification of Biden's victory. Throughout the chaos, Trump remained passive, ignoring pleas for intervention from lawmakers.

Public opinion divided on Charlamagne Tha God's remarks

Amidst Charlamagne Tha God's outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, reactions from the public have been a mixed bag, reflecting the polarized nature of contemporary political discourse.

One user said, "Agreed! Especially after he WOULD NOT ENDORSE Biden when he was on The View! He's trying to balance on that fence!"

Another added, "Welp, this trumper never liked him. Though when he doesn't tow the line, you lefties sure do hate him. Reveals how you really feel about black people."

One user said, "I don’t feel any way about him never listened to his show."

One added, "It looks like CtG is trying to clumsily carve himself a "middle of the road and tells it like it is" persona. His lust for attention is hard to miss."

Another said, "Its impossible to take any person seriously when they refer to themselves as a god."

One commented, "I agree, but what does it say when he's more informed than the host of the show? Trump says a lot of outrageous things and I feel like some of his supporters forget or don't hear it because it's being sanitized by conservative media."
