WASHINGTON, DC: Voters in crucial states that will probably determine the election have more faith in former President Donald Trump than in President Joe Biden to handle threats to democracy, showed a new survey, released on Wednesday, June 25.

The voters in six swing states were polled by The Washington Post, which distinguished a subset of respondents known as "deciders" from the overall sample.

The poll revealed that 38 percent of "deciders" thought Donald Trump would better handle democratic threats to the United States, compared to 29 percent who thought Joe Biden would and 23 percent who said neither.

Additionally, about 60 percent of the group expressed complete dissatisfaction with the way American democracy is operating.

'Deciders' include respondents who voted in the 2016 or 2020 election

Respondents classified as "deciders" include those who changed their party of preference between 2016 and 2020, are under 25, have been registered to vote since 2022, or were voters in either the 2016 or 2020 elections.

Out of all the voters in swing states, 44 percent said they trusted the presumed GOP nominee more to safeguard democracy, compared to 33 percent who said the incumbent.

The poll found that roughly 16 percent of respondents trusted neither, and 7 percent said they trusted both equally.

Internet upset as new poll suggests swing states might favor of Donald Trump

Netizens were seemingly capsized after the new poll revealed the results in Trump's favor.

One X (formerly Twitter) user opined, "Crazy talk. Vote Biden and full blue ticket. MAGA has to go," while another wrote, "That's a sad reflection on the education system."

"Sounds like a lot of those 'deciders' failed their history and government classes," remarked one and another tweeted, "If this poll is accurate, it is more evidence that the media is failing democracy. 4th estate malpractice. Do better!"

"Swing state voters aren’t paying attention," commented one while a user said, "That’s crazy."
