Nick Reiner kept in solitary confinement and on self-harm watch after murder charges: Report
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rob and Michele Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, was arrested on Sunday, December 14, after being charged with the murder of his parents.
As per an update reported by Page Six, as of December 20, Nick Reiner is being kept in solitary confinement and is under self-harm watch.
Reports also revealed that Reiner is required to wear a “blue self-harm-prevention smock” at all times while in Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
Sources claim Nick Reiner’s contact with others is ‘non-existent’
As reported by People magazine, a police source shared details of what the late Rob Reiner’s son’s routine was like while at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
The source told the publication that Nick Reiner was not allowed to speak to anyone but his legal counsel and “authorized jail personnel.”
The source also claimed that he was only allowed to leave his cell for medical checkups and for court appearances, and even then, he needed to be escorted by an official.
They stated these measures were taken by the police to avoid any compromises in “this high-profile case,” and to ensure that civilians and other inmates don’t ask him questions about Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s murder.
The source further revealed that Nick Reiner’s days were “rigidly controlled,” with limited movement.
“His contact with the outside world effectively non-existent,” they added.
The source claimed that Nick Reiner was given all his meals while in solitary confinement itself, and that he would remain on self-harm watch until doctors determined that he was mentally fit.
They added that Reiner was evaluated by a mental health professional during his intake, who determined that he was sick. This was also one of the reasons Nick was not allowed visitors, as it would put him at risk.
“He will remain on self-harm watch until a doctor clears him, which could take a long time depending on his mental health,” they added.
