AUSTIN, TEXAS: YouTuber Nick Shirley is giving Elon Musk his flowers, crediting the billionaire tech mogul with defending free speech and reshaping society in the United States and abroad.

Shirley made the comments during an appearance on Alex Jones’ 'InfoWars', where he argued that Musk’s influence, particularly since buying Twitter and rebranding it as X, has had sweeping political and cultural consequences at a moment he described as make-or-break for the country.

According to Shirley, Musk’s takeover of the platform opened the door for uncensored debate during consequential moments, including recent elections.

Nick Shirley showers praise on Elon Musk

During the broadcast, Shirley heaped praise on Musk's efforts to promote free speech.

“Thank you, Elon Musk. Because what he's done has helped shape society in many ways. The election, so we can all speak freely in the US. You're seeing the ripple effect,” he said.

He credited Musk with "leveling out the playing field" and framed the SpaceX CEO not just as a domestic player but as a global force. “He's not only helped save the United States, he's helping save the United Kingdom,” Shirley added.

Shirley stressed that the tech billionaire's role in current events is often underestimated. “If it wasn't for Elon Musk, people don't understand how important he is in what's going on in the world...we're fighting to keep what made America great. It's not a coincidence America became the greatest country in 250 years,” he said.

But Shirley also issued a warning. “If we don't stand for what made us that great country, we will fall, whether it be from allowing mass immigration to happen or allowing fraud to happen. We won't be the same country, and we won't be that great country that we once were,” he said.

Elon Musk's public support of Nick Shirley's work

Shirley’s remarks come amid a growing public exchange between him and Musk, particularly over his recent investigative reporting on alleged fraud in Minnesota’s daycare system involving Somali immigrants.

In a separate interview clip, Shirley explained why the story struggled to gain local media attention. “Because it's Somalians that are committing this [fraud],” Shirley said.

Musk responded bluntly on X by writing, “Exactly.”

The tech billionaire later retweeted posts about Shirley’s work and declared to the public, “You are the media now."

Shirley, who has amassed more than 870,000 followers on X, has built his profile through on-the-ground reporting rather than studio commentary.

His work has included documenting the migrant crisis in New York City, where he recorded migrants receiving benefits such as free rent and insurance. He has traveled to swing states to interview voters and has even reported from the US-Mexico border, covering cartel activity and immigration enforcement.

“I don’t think people understand the impact I had in getting President Trump elected," Shirley wrote in a post.

"My videos received over a BILLION views, opening the eyes to millions of Americans and sparked conversations with some of the most influential people in America, like Elon Musk and Joe Rogan,” he added, patting himself on the back.

Past defense of Elon Musk

Shirley has also pointed to Musk’s influence overseas. In the United Kingdom, Shirley covered mass protests where far-right activist Tommy Robinson publicly thanked Musk for backing free speech amid tightening restrictions.

Robinson addressed the crowds during demonstrations and declared, “We are the counter-revolution. It’s not going anywhere, mate. Everyone’s had enough.”

Shirley has documented anti-Musk protests where demonstrators labeled the billionaire a “Nazi” without citing specific reasons.

In one notable instance in New York City, Shirley reported on materials distributed at migrant shelters that branded Musk “the enemy of the American people” and called for him to be “stripped of power.”
