Nicolas Cage contemplates retirement as he reflects on culmination of career and family priorities
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage has shared that his acting days are almost over.
The legendary star recently revealed that he has exhausted all possibilities in his acting career and is on the brink of retirement.
Cage will be next seen in 'Dream Scenario'
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Cage, set to appear in A24's 'Dream Scenario,' disclosed that he has a precise count of the number of movies he'll be involved in the future.
"I may have three or four more movies left in me. [I've] said what I've had to say with cinema" and "took film performance as far as I could," he conveyed to the outlet.
"I want to say goodbye on a high note," Cage shared with Vanity Fair.
He added, "I was taking stock of how much time I had left. I thought, ‘Okay, my dad died at 75, I’m going to be turning 60. If I’m lucky, I have maybe a good 15 years and hopefully more. What do I want to do with those 15 years, using my father as the model?’"
Cage, who has a daughter and two sons, Weston (32) and Kal-El (18), expressed, "I want to spend time with my family."
He hinted at the possibility of exploring web series and streaming, stating, "Maybe it’s time to look at the immersive streaming experience. I don’t know. I have to look for the next step, and I haven’t found it yet," Cage told the magazine.
Cage's eldest son Weston reflects on his last name
Cage's son, Weston, previously informed The Hollywood Reporter, "I think that it was definitely encouraged, but everyone predicted that I would become an actor just because I spent the majority of my childhood getting together with friends and creating stories and having it videotaped."
He further noted, "[It] was actually ferocious. I mean, there were times I would communicate with people and realize that they had completely made their own definition about me for themselves, without even getting to know me," he explained.
In 2015, Cage spoke about Weston, saying, "He can do things I dream about doing … compose music, sing, act, sculpt, and cook, and now he is a loving father," he said. "To see my son with my grandson is as close to a sense of blissful completion as I ever had."
In another interview, Cage said, "My boys are all grown up, and I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting back to that."
