NIGERIA, AFRICA: The First Lady of Nigeria has harshly criticized Meghan Markle for showing off her "nakedness everywhere" while on a recent trip to the African nation.

Earlier in May, the Duchess of Sussex traveled to Nigeria for three days with her husband, Prince Harry. Meghan switched her clothes several times while on the trip, and it appears that First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu found her style offensive.

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu gave a speech at a celebration of President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, highlighting the important contributions women have made to all walks of life.

The First Lady made a subtle jab at Meghan while discussing the important achievements women have made to society, as reported by The Mirror.

Speaking to the crowd, she declared, "The message here is we have to salvage our children. We see the way they dress. They keep forgetting that Nigeria, we are beautiful. You can see what they showcase on the stage, I said, 'We are fashionable, we see what is going on'."

"We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed. So we have to do something. Tell them we don't accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It's not beautiful at all," Senator Oluremi continued.

The First Lady added, "And they're all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are. They do not want to mimic and try to emulate film stars from America."

"They don't know where they come from. Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with. We know who we are. Don't lose who you are."

Meghan wore a range of clothes and accessories while in Nigeria, spending close to £120,000 (approximately $1,52,921) on jewelry and brand-new clothes. She traveled wearing several upscale brands, such as Johanna Ortiz, Carolina Herrera, and Altuzarra.

Given Nigeria's extreme poverty—more than 112 million people live in extreme destitution—Meghan's choice has drawn criticism.

Nigeria's First Lady receives praise for calling out Meghan Markle

Social media users praised the First Lady of Nigeria for slamming the Duchess with one X (formerly Twitter) user exclaiming, "First lady of Nigeria Gave Meghan Markle a piece of advice COVER UP."

A second user said in praise, "Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu had the guts to do what so far no other person in an official government position has ever done . Call out the starlet known as Meghan Markle . She’s an absolute champion."

"Thank you First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu of #Nigeria for using your platform to call out #MeghanMarkle her disrespectful, dishonorable display of ‘nakedness’ while in her country," another remarked.

Another exclaimed, "Shes spot on! What the heck did the Harkles think they could possibly bring to Nigeria? I'm so glad this lady called it out!"

"That is so true. A persons beauty shines out from within, there is absolutely no need to flaunt the body if you are confident in your self," chimed in one user.

Someone else added, "Very very very CLEAR MESSAGE TO RACHEL MEGHAN MARKLE. You were dressed half NAKED!!! Got it!!! She didn’t appreciate your nakedness!! Bravo to the first lady The First Lady of Nigeria is so dignified."

"The First Lady of Nigeria is worried girls may be influenced by an American actress & how she dresses. Her views on #MeghanMarkle are she is not accepted or respected by the First Lady & we all know why, M was highly disrespectful! The faux tour has yet again been #markled," another said.
