SAG-AFTRA issues stern statement over Sylvester Stallone's alleged insults to 'Tulsa King' extras
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: SAG-AFTRA released a statement after Sylvester Stallone was accused of making disparaging comments about background actors on the set of 'Tulsa King' Season 2.
"There is no room on any set for disparaging comments to background actors or any performers. Though we have not been contacted directly about the incident on set of ‘Tulsa King’ in Atlanta, SAG-AFTRA is committed to the safety and well-being of cast members on all productions," noted the labor union, as reported by Variety.
The statement also mentioned that the body’s "TV/theatrical agreements do not cover background actors in Atlanta," but the union is "here to support with guidance if requested."
SAG-AFTRA weighs in on the 'need for a respectful workplace'
As per a source close to the production, the matter was swiftly addressed on the set by department heads, who emphasized that there is a need for a respectful workplace.
On Monday, April 8, TV writer Julie Benson, who doesn't have any ties with 'Tulsa King', took to X (formerly Twitter) to share screenshots and wrote, "Got this disturbing news from my Atlanta friend who’s background on Tulsa King this wk."
She added, "Casting agent quit because she was so disgusted. My friend is feeling anxious about working now.@TheSlyStallone what do you have to say for yourself, sir? Beyond disappointed, I’m livid."

One screenshot was from a Facebook post with a blurred user name. It stated, "While working on TK this week Sylvester Stallone was observed calling the director over and saying 'what the F* is up with these F**** ugly background [actors].'"
The post continued, "He and the director proceeded to call certain people terrible names and laughed at them. 'Tub of lard,' 'fat guy with cane' and was making fun of their weight and handicaps. Sly said, 'Bring in pretty young girls to be around me.'"
Stallone is yet to comment on the allegations brought against him.
Casting agency parted ways with 'Tulsa King' over accusations
In the wake of the allegations, Rose Locke Casting agency ended its association with 'Tulsa King', Deadline reported. The company was hired to find actors aged 18 and above for the second season of the show.
"We wanted to send you an update on the happenings here in our casting world. We have chosen to part ways with Tulsa King. We will be finishing up next week and the 12th will be our last day," announced the agency through a Facebook post.
It added, "We send well wishes to whomever takes over the show. We thank all of you great background artists for your continued support."
'Tulsa King', which was created by Taylor Sheridan, who is famed for 'Yellowstone', is currently filming its second season in Atlanta.
