Noah Roush: One Arkansas prison escapee nabbed at abandoned home, another remains at large
JEFFERSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS: On Thursday, the Jefferson County, Arkansas, authorities declared that they had apprehended one of the inmates who had escaped from a nearby jail.
22-year-old Noah David Roush is back at the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center, where he is accused of burglary and is a suspect in an unrelated homicide.
Meanwhile, Jatonia Bryant Jr, 23, who is facing a different murder case, is yet to be nabbed.
Noah Roush was apprehended in an abandoned house
According to police officials, authorities received a call on Thursday at about 4 pm. The caller reported to the police that they had seen someone who appeared to fit Roush's description inside an abandoned house in the Pine Bluff neighborhood near 19th Avenue and Plum Street.
When Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Captain Yohance Brunson arrived, he observed Roush attempting to escape on foot, according to the sheriff's office.
But with the assistance of Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) Department of Public Safety Officer Aaron Torres and Captain Brad Vilches, Brunson was able to apprehend him.
He was immediately returned to the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center by the authorities.
“We appreciate the brave citizen who made the decision to get involved and call MECA as well as the outstanding efforts of our own Captain Brunson, as well as SEARKDPS Captain Brad Vilches and Officer Torres,” they stated.
They continued, “Over the last three days numerous hours were worked by our own Deputies as well as the Pine Bluff Police Department Vice and Narcotics, Arkansas State Police, and Arkansas Department of Correction. We appreciate all of their time and effort they have put in to make this happen.”
Jatonia Bryant Jr is still on the run
The police are still searching for Jatonia Bryant Jr. According to the authorities, on the evening of January 20, Bryant and Roush escaped from the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center, as reported by Law&Crime.
They assert, based on surveillance footage, that the two went through a shower opening, made their way to a roof opening, and descended. Documents reveal that deputies were unaware of the men's disappearance until Monday morning.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office wrote, “Both individuals are to be considered dangerous and should only be approached by law enforcement personnel.”
