Notably, the feedback from members of the MAGA crowd regarding Haley's inclusion on the ticket if Trump secures the Republican presidential nomination has been predominantly unfavorable, per GOP sources who shared this with CBS News.

A potential presidential dilemma on the cards

POLITICO was the first to report that efforts by supporters of former President Donald Trump are underway to thwart any possibility of his former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, serving as his running mate in a future presidential election.

From Trump’s allies to MAGA media influencers, even his son Donald Trump Jr. has cautioned the GOP frontrunner as he begins to consider a potential ‘Trump-Haley’ ticket for the 2024 US general elections.

During a recent interview with Newsmax, Donald Trump Jr. expressed his firm opposition to the idea of Nikki Haley serving as the Vice President alongside his father and said that he would "go to great lengths" to ensure that Haley is not considered for the position in any way.

He further elaborated his stance by asserting that Haley's potential appointment as the US Vice President would be "a disaster of epic proportions” and characterized her as "the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class."

However, in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, last Friday, on the 22nd of December, 2023, Trump dismissed polls indicating Haley's positive performance as 'fake', and stated that he is not concerned about her as a presidential contender.

Recent polling data suggests that Haley has been gaining traction among potential voters, with one Trump advisor predicting she may rank third in Iowa behind Governor Ron DeSantis or even second.

Despite this, Haley has been promoting her increased popularity in the polls, telling voters in New Hampshire that she is "surging" in popularity against Trump.

The recent polling data by CBS News shows that Haley is gaining ground on Trump in New Hampshire, with the former president holding a significant lead in Iowa, where he currently holds a 44% lead over Haley's 29%.

Internet reacted to this news for a potential ‘Trump-Haley’ ticket with dismay

People on X (formerly Twitter) expressed their concern over a potential ‘Trump-Haley’ pairing for the White House in 2024.

One X user wrote: “Nobody wants this."

Another user stated: "I will not vote for him if he chooses her. Period."

Another user said: "I don't know how much truth there is but I speak for a lot of trump supporters when I say never in a 100 years would I vote for this ticket"

One user suggested: "No doubt Trump cut a deal with the RNC to make Haley the presumptive nominee if he gets indicted and can’t continue. The fix is in and Trump is about to betray his base for the millionth time!"

Another X user wrote: "He's worried and wants to cut a deal now before she gains more momentum."

Another user remarked: "No one likes Haley."

Finally, this user tweeted: "This is so not happening."
