WASHINGTON, DC: A resurfaced video has thrust Democratic congressional candidate Richard Ojeda into the spotlight as online critics slam him for making violent comments about Trump adviser Stephen Miller.
In the 2022 clip, Ojeda says he’d be willing to go to jail for assaulting Miller, remarks the Trump administration has condemned as part of a disturbing trend of left-wing political violence.
The uproar comes at a tense moment in American politics, following the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and multiple attempted attacks on President Donald Trump.
Richard Ojeda once unleashed violent rhetoric against Stephen Miller
A now-viral clip from North Carolina congressional candidate Richard Ojeda’s March 2022 Ojeda LIVE stream shows him unleashing violent rhetoric against Trump adviser Stephen Miller.

In the recording, Ojeda declares, “Stephen Miller needs to be THUMPED! That guy's a freaking worm. I would be willing to go to jail for – I mean, how much [time] would I get for just cracking him a couple of times?"
He goes on, “I'd be willing to go to jail to kick the s**t out of him. I'd be more than happy to find myself in an elevator with him and I'd whoop his a** from the first floor to the fifth floor and be happy to go to jail."
Trump admin condemns Richard Ojeda's violent remarks
Following the circulation of a 2022 video featuring Richard Ojeda’s violent comments, the Trump administration swiftly condemned his rhetoric.
White House spokesperson Kush Desai responded, saying, “Unfortunately, Democrats disgustingly supporting political violence is nothing new.”
He continued, “Neither Stephen Miller nor any other member of the administration is going to back down from delivering on President Trump’s agenda to Make America Great Again. In the meantime, Richard Ojeda should seek help.”
Richard Ojeda breaks silence over his remarks about Stephen Miller

In response to the backlash, Ojeda clarified that while his language was aggressive, he does not support political violence. “The language I used in that video reflects my discontent with how political figures like Steven [sic] Miller are steering the nation I served for 24 years in the US Army,” he explained. “I believe his conduct and the conduct of many who enable him to be a betrayal of our oath that I can not accept.”
Ojeda emphasized that his remarks were made in a moment of frustration and were influenced by his background. “I believe his conduct and the conduct of many who enable him to be a betrayal of our oath that I can not accept,” he said.
He also pointed out that the video was recorded years ago, “long before” he considered running for Congress again, even though he had previously launched three unsuccessful campaigns.
Ojeda repeatedly denounced political violence and acknowledged his past anger. “I’ll admit I was angry then, and I’m still angry now—angry at what people like Stephen Miller are doing to this nation,” Ojeda concluded. “The fact that he holds a place in our history books disgusts me, and I think it disgusts a lot of Americans. Steven Miller is a racist.”
