Cenk Uygur trolled as 'The Young Turks' host tries to explain why he's staying in the presidential race
MONTPELIER, VERMONT: Political commentator and left-leaning Democrat Cenk Uygur became the target of social media trolls following his announcement to stay in the presidential race, aiming to win Vermont and "send a message."
The host of the online political commentary show, 'The Young Turks', said that he believes a Vermont victory could effectively "end the wars" in Gaza and Ukraine.
Notably, Uygur's announcement of his White House run in October 2023 raised questions regarding the eligibility of naturalized citizens running for office.
Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution explicitly states that "no person except a natural born citizen" can be president, raising concerns about whether the citizenship status of the Democrat, who immigrated from Turkey in 1978, meets the requirement, as per ABC News.
Cenk Uygur seeks to send a strong message about stopping wars and occupations
In a recent conversation with co-host Ana Kasparian, Uygur outlined, "I'm going to try to do something audacious, which I always do, which is try to win Vermont. Like I'm going to be realistic and not run in Texas, which is a giant state."
He added, "We are not going to able to spread our message enough in five weeks, especially with the mainstream media stonewalling me. On the other hand, Vermont is smaller than a congressional district, it is the home of progressives. Does Vermont want to send a message: End the war, end the occupation?"
"Now, if I won, no one would dispute it that would be stunning, and the message will have been delivered. At that point, Biden's gotta be thinking: Well how much longer do I want to go with the war, if I just heard this resounding message: Stop the war, stop the occupation," asserted the Democrat presidential candidate.
Uygur insisted that a Vermont victory would be stunning and send a resounding message to President Joe Biden about reevaluating the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.
He noted, "If you want to help send that message and you want to take advantage of this unique opportunity... that would be amazing."

Known for co-creating 'The Young Turks', which he touts as the "largest online progressive news show in the world," Uygur's progressive political stance has garnered attention.
Previously an attorney in Washington, DC, and New York, he transitioned to political commentary, gaining visibility on MSNBC and Current TV.
In 2017, Uygur launched the Justice Democrats, aiming for a "hostile takeover" of the Democratic Party establishment. However, his bid for California's 25th congressional district in 2020 faced controversy due to past comments about women, Muslims, and African Americans.
During the California congressional campaign, demeaning and controversial comments from Uygur's past resurfaced, creating further hurdles for his candidacy.
Internet doesn't agree with Cenk Uygur's plan to stay put in his presidential run
After Uygur discussed his further plans, netizens were quick to bash him over his political aspirations.

One said, "What 'war'?? Also, Cenk is not a real candidate. He literally is ineligible," and another commented, "Awww he thinks he's in the presidential race. that's cute."
A person remarked, "He’s going to get maybe five votes in the whole state. He’s delusional."
"At least he openly admits any money spent on his 'campaign' is a meaningless anti-war virtue signal that would absolutely be better used donating to literally any humanitarian organization that could actually make some material difference," chimed in someone else.
An individual quipped, "lmao I didn’t even know he was running."
What "war"??
