LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: With 14 seasons of the popular CBS series 'Blue Bloods' drawing to a conclusion, Tom Selleck is ready to settle down and has given up on his desire for Hollywood fame and glory.

Insider sources claimed that as the end of his American police drama series draws near, the veteran intends to quit Hollywood in favor of slow living on his 65-acre avocado ranch.

The 78-year-old loving husband and father, who has been married to Jillie Mack, 65, since 1987, will reportedly withdraw to his expansive estate outside of Los Angeles to avoid the arduous weekly commute to New York City for the show's filming, as per Radar Online.

Tom Selleck reportedly 'wants to spend more time with family'

Insiders reportedly told the National Enquirer that Selleck wants to spend more time with his family once 'Blue Bloods' concludes and escape to the comforts of his ranch outside of Los Angeles.

According to the reported insiders, Selleck is excited to spend a lot more time with his family and partake in "all the outdoorsy things" he likes to do on the property.

Selleck and Mack share a 35-year-old daughter, Hannah who is a successful horseback rider.

An insider close to the actor told the outlet, "At his age, Tom wants more time to enjoy all the outdoorsy things he likes to do on the ranch. And he wants to spend more time with family."

The source further added: "Tom has more than enough money, and he's not attached to fame and the trappings that go along with it."

CBS series 'Blue Bloods' has been produced on location in New York City since its launch in 2010. After the series finale, Selleck will be able to fully enjoy his house and the lifestyle that goes along with it without the constraints of a network TV production schedule.

'Blue Bloods' Season 14 will debut on February 16, 2024, after an extended hiatus due to the WGA writers' strike and the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike that lasted for most of 2023.

The full season will air in two parts, with the second part premiering in the Fall of 2024, as per CinemaBlend.

Tom Selleck dips in and out of the spotlight

Tom Selleck is one of the renowned actors who began his career in soap operas before going on to play prominent roles in television shows like 'Magnum, P.I.' and 'Friends,' to mention a few.

The actor has previously departed the Hollywood industry, most notably after completing filming 'Magnum, P.I.' in 1988, however, the report did not originate with Selleck himself.

In 1988, the 'Three Men and a Baby' actor took a step back at the height of his success. He stunned everyone by making the audacious decision to put his personal life first and postpone his Hollywood career.

Selleck stated at the time, "I was tired and I wanted a three-dimensional life because I didn’t have one. I worked 90 hours a week and did a movie every break."

After a brief break, he gradually returned to the industry and starred in some of the most popular flicks of the 1990s, including 'Friends,' 'The Closer,' and his TV series starring Jesse Stone.

According to reports, the famous mustache star has always been a homebody at heart and has never been an everyday superstar despite his success.

"He's not into big parties. He's a low-key kind of guy," an insider claimed.

Selleck agreed and said, "My relationship and my ranch keep me sane." Despite having amassed a devoted following and being popular for his signature "mustache" appearance, he finds the most happiness when he is not in the spotlight.

In a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Selleck noted: "I'm a fairly private person. And I've always treasured the balance between work and time with my family. It's always about them."

Tom Selleck bought avocado farm property from Dean Martin for $5 million

In 1988, Selleck paid $5 million to Dean Martin for the avocado farm, which he and his wife Mack had converted into a 1920 hunting lodge.

The actor looks after more than 1,500 trees on the expansive property mostly on his own. "I do grunt work, and I make the rounds. I like watching things grow. It's a retreat," he said, as per The Things.

Speaking about the land, he said, "This ranch is a great counterpoint to the acting business, which is an abstraction — you do something, it's up on a piece of film, and everybody argues whether it's good or bad. You dig a hole and plant an oak tree — and I've probably planted a thousand of them — it's real."
