WASHINGTON, DC: As President Joe Biden initiated strikes against the Houthis in Yemen, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump criticized Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for overseeing the war during his hospitalization following a medical procedure, reported Daily Mail.

"So, let me get this straight. We're dropping bombs all over the Middle East, AGAIN (where I defeated ISIS!), and our Secretary of Defence, who just went missing for five days, is running the war from his laptop in a hospital room," the former president posted on Truth Social on Friday, January 12.

According toThe Daily Beast report, the 70-year-old defence secretary ordered the deadly strike on Houthis on Thursday, January 12, from his hospital room.

Criticisms against Austin have not died down over his failure to inform the Biden administration and the public regarding his cancer diagnosis and the surgery.

The president was informed about the Defence Secretary's condition only on January 4 after he was admitted to the hospital on New Year's Day.

Republicans made calls to remove Austin from the position for hiding the information. Trump also demanded the same, citing dereliction of duty.

Donald Trump slams Joe Biden over 'no war' in Southern border

Continuing his Truth Social post, Trump reminded that the Houthis were the same Gang that "surrendered" in Afghanistan, highlighting someone was "held accountable" or "FIRED" then.

"It was the most embarrassing "moment" in the history of the United States."

Pointing at the wars in Ukraine, Israel, and Yemen, the former president added Biden's administration has not declared a war on the Southern border.

"Oh, that makes a lot of sense. Crooked Joe Biden is the worst President in the history of the United States!" Trump said.

According to The New York Times, the US carried out another strike against the Iran-backed group's radar facility on Friday to stop the latter's attack on ships passing through the Red Sea.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's remarks

Netizens are mocking Trump's criticisms against Austin ordering the strikes from a hospital bed. Some reactions also mocked his obsession with playing golf.

One user said, "No one asked your opinion."

Another user remarked, "Running the military from a laptop? Sort of how you ran the government from the golf course?"

"The trump train band of lies. No facts at all," read a third response. Another added, "He can work from hospital, he's not playing golf."

One user wrote, "Well, good that you can keep up with current events along with your legal cases. You owe the NY Times almost $400 K."

"Actually you’re wrong! YOU were the most embarrassing “moment” in the history of the United States. And you have that won by an actual landslide," another user stated.
