CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO: The defense tactic in the murder case of Ohio father Chad Doerman has now been revealed to the public. Doerman formally entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea on Monday, March 25.

Chad Doerman is accused of killing his three young sons, ages three, four, and seven, in front of their mother, in an execution-style manner.

Court ordered a psychiatric examination of Chad Doerman

Following this, the court mandated that, while he was being held at Clermont County Jail, he be subjected to a "psychiatric examination of Defendant's mental condition at the time of the offense(s) charged," on or before April 26, 2024.

The plea was submitted soon after Doerman's entire interrogation, which included an alleged confession, was declared invalid by the case's judge.

Judge Ricard Ferenc ruled that the accused killer's rights were violated twice after his arrest, according to FOX 19.

The first time was when the accused killer wasn't fully informed of his Miranda rights before being questioned, and the second time was when the accused killer was questioned after expressing a desire for legal representation.

Doerman's statements, along with the audio and video recordings of the interrogation, have to be deleted in light of the ruling.

Prosecutors have filed a bill of particulars outlining the charges against the suspect, as per FOX19.

The bill states that the attack took place after Doerman brought his sons and wife home early from work and invited them to "join him in the master bedroom for a nap."

He allegedly got out of bed at one point, loaded a rifle, and shot his son Hunter twice. Despite the fact that his stepdaughter was napping and watching TV in a different room, authorities claim she "witnessed the shooting."

The boys' sister reportedly witnessed Doerman pursue Clayton, age 7, who was among the kids who ran toward a nearby field, shooting him and sending him to the ground.

The child was allegedly shot in the head by Doerman "at close range."

The little child is reported to have hurried back inside the house to get Chase, the youngest boy, as this was happening, and then "attempted to flee the residence with him."

She "begged" Doerman not to shoot her when he allegedly caught up to her, held her at gunpoint, and "demanded" that she put down the child. Chase ran to his mother after Doerman allegedly fired a shot at him, but the gun did not discharge.

Meanwhile, the sister hurried to the fire department and informed onlookers that her father was "killing everyone," Toofab reported.

Investigators say that following a "physical altercation," the two parents got into a fight, with Doerman allegedly "going so far as to bite" his wife in an attempt to get her to stop with Chase.

She is reported to have dropped the child after she was shot after putting her thumb over the gun's barrel during the altercation.

The third son is said to have been shot dead by Doerman, who is then accused of laying all three boys in the same spot on the side of the house.

He allegedly "sat on the side stoop of the residence and calmly watched [the wife] undertake futile live-saving measures on her three children," who ultimately perished from their wounds, according to the documents.

Documents also state that Doerman admitted to authorities, "I did it. I should not have done that," and "Take me to jail."

They further assert that he "admitted to having been thinking about shooting his sons since October" and said, "that the thoughts of having to kill his sons was so heavy on him that he hadn't slept for three or four days prior" to their deaths.

There will be a trial in July.
