CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO: Attorneys for an Ohio father who is accused of killing his three sons last year filed a motion earlier this month to have his confession deemed inadmissible in court on the grounds that it violated his constitutional rights.

Chad Doerman requested legal representation at least twice after his arrest, according to the defense, but the investigators disregarded his requests.

Chad Doerman's attorneys claim police bugged his private conversations

Doerman "looked confused and distraught," but the questioning went on for three hours, according to a recent motion filed by Doerman's attorneys.

According to Local2, Doerman's attorneys also asserted that police bugged Doerman's private conversations with a social worker and nurse. Doerman was scheduled to go on trial in August for the June 15, 2023, shooting deaths of his three sons, Clayton Doerman, 7, Hunter Doerman, 4, and Chase Doerman, 3.

As reported by WLWT, Doerman killed people in front of his wife and stepdaughter in an execution-style manner. He was also charged with plotting the murders of his sons for months prior to carrying them out.

Before shooting the 7-year-old as he attempted to flee, Doerman is accused of shooting his 4-year-old son twice in the head in their Monroe Township home. Prosecutors claim that Doerman then fired two close-range shots to the 7-year-old's head, injuring him from behind.

Chad Doerman entered not guilty plea

According to reports, the stepdaughter left the house on foot and found a neighbor who informed the police. The mother of the boys reportedly informed a 911 dispatcher that her "babies had been shot" before police arrived on the scene.

On the porch, Doerman was found sitting next to the rifle, and the three boys were found dead in a yard. Doerman has entered a not guilty plea to charges of felonious assault, kidnapping, and aggravated murder.

According to Clermont County Prosecutor Mark Tekulve, there are aggravating circumstances in this case that could result in the death penalty. Attorneys have not disclosed their motivation.

Fox19 reports that a hearing regarding the most recent motion to suppress is set for February 2. The motion has not yet been addressed by the prosecution.
