Olivia Newton-John's daughter Chloe Lattanzi opens up about 'dark side' of stardom

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Chloe Lattanzi, who grew up in the spotlight, remarked that she frequently felt like a "chameleon" who had to adapt to fit the expectations of people and what they wanted from her.

"I think we're on a constant quest. Finding yourself is really just being authentic. And when you're a child, you're authentic. You say what you think and you feel, and I think that fame is great," Lattanzi said.

Talking about fame, she added, "And, also, there's a dark side. And, for me, the dark side is I didn't feel the freedom to just be me."

"I felt like I had to be what the world would — and this is all in my head — but I had to be what the world wanted me to be, or I had to be exactly like my mother."

Lattanzi continued by saying, "I've struggled with being a chameleon my whole life. I wanted to make everyone happy. And I'm realizing my mom dealt with that too."

"Being sensitive souls, you want everyone to like you, but you reach a point where that ends up killing you," she said.

She added: "I just found out what boundaries are a year ago... But if you don't like me or what I say, that's OK. I'm still going to say it. I'm going to be me."

Reflecting on her healing process, Lattanzi said, "I'm definitely on an upward trajectory in the health arena. Mind, body, spirit, because I am living in my authenticity."

Chloe Lattanzi's late mother Olivia Newton-John remains 'powerfully present' in her life

Chloe Lattanzi claimed to still feel her mother's presence two years after Olivia Newton-John's death. The adored 'Grease' actress lost her fight with breast cancer in 2022. She was 73.

"I'm always experiencing her. So, we talk, and I ask her if I'm struggling with something to kind of guide me towards the right person energetically," she said.

"And I'm always guided to where I need to be to heal, to overcome whatever it is. She always appears in the form of an orb in a photo or through an introduction meeting a person randomly on the street."

Lattanzi added, "So, she is ever present and very powerfully present in my life, in spirit."

Chloe Lattanzi releases new song 'Phoenix' on late Olivia Newton-John's birthday

In observance of late Olivia Newton-John's 76th birthday on September 26, her daughter Lattanzi dropped 'Phoenix', a powerful new song that her mother, who died two years ago, urged her to complete.

Lattanzi told PEOPLE, "I co-wrote the song 'Phoenix' for my mom as a promise to fly, to know my own worth and to make sure to love myself."

Speaking about her mental health struggles, Lattanzi said, "I had struggled with PTSD and multiple things of the mind. So this was my promise to be happy, healthy, and love myself."

Lattanzi began composing the song during Olivia's later years. "She would listen to it every day and she would just be like, 'Come on baby, put it out, put it out'," she said.

"But then Mama took a downward turn and the most important thing to me is taking care of my mom."

Lattanzi said of her late mother, "She said the most important thing to her more than anything in the world is that her child, me, shared her gifts with the world and was happy."

"So I'm really excited to release this song in her honor. And for anyone who's struggling with issues of the body, the mind, or the spirit, I want it to be a reminder to them that they are incredibly more powerful than they could ever imagine," she added.

Apart from music, Lattanzi is getting ready to lead the yearly Olivia's Walk For Wellness in Australia, which is her mother's main mission: to raise money for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center.
