PARIS, FRANCE: Track and field athlete Tara Davis-Woodhall won the gold medal in the women's long jump final at Stade de France in Paris during the 2024 Olympics and went directly into the loving embrace of her Paralympian husband Hunter Woodhall.

Woodhall is the greatest supporter of his wife, who won the most coveted title at her second Olympics on Thursday, August 8, with her best jump recorded at 7.10 meters.

The couple’s celebratory moment recently went viral on the internet with fans propounding that their love story should be made into a film.

Tara Davis-Woodhall’s husband is an Olympian himself

Tara Davis-Woodhall’s husband Hunter Woodhall is also an athlete himself and a regular at the Paralympic Games. He won a bronze and silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and later a bronze medal in the men's 400m T62 at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.

Quite befittingly, the Olympian couple met for the first time during a travel meet for the athletes. In 2017, the besotted couple met during a track meet at the Simplot Games in Idaho.

In a YouTube video, the couple recalled the beginning of their relationship when they were just 16.

In the video, they shared that when Hunter saw Tara compete in the games, he told his best friend, "Damn, that girl is fine. I'm gonna marry that girl."

The attraction was not one-sided as later that day, Tara saw Hunter stretching before his 400-meter event, making her enamored with her future husband.

Tara shared, "I just saw him and was like, 'Ooh, who's that?'" before adding, "I kinda just stared at him for a little bit."

After the competition was over, they worked on their mutual attraction and slid into each other’s DMs on social media. Soon sparks flew and the couple started chatting.

They went on their first date in June 2017 but remained in a long-distance relationship throughout their college.

In a 2021 interview with Elle, Tara shared their struggle as a long-distance couple, sharing, "We balance our long-distance relationship by having communication, trust, and patience.”

She continued, "Over the past four years, we learned how to communicate and operate as a couple. We have had countless situations where we had done badly on both sides, but we learned from those lessons and genuinely want to grow our relationship."

At that point, Hunter added, "We try to see the other side of an argument. We try not to tell each other how we should feel."

The power couple has been each other’s pillar of strength

After years of dating, the athletic couple tied the knot at D'Vine Grace Vineyard in McKinney, Texas, in 2022.

After their nuptials, Tara told People, "This has been such a dream — ever since we started dating, Hunter and I have talked about getting married," before adding, "We were for real about it, we truly saw each other for the rest of our lives."

The couple has long been hyping each other before their important competitions as well. Before her eclectic performance in the Olympics, Tara posted photos of herself in Paris on Instagram, writing in the caption, "Win or Lose, Fight Hard."

Her husband replied to her post, and motivated her, writing, "It’s your time. Let’s go."

Making a separate post on August 7, he cheered his wife, writing, "I’m so humbled by you," per People.

He added, "You have battled through so much just to give yourself a chance. You’ve inspired so many with your authenticity. Showing it’s okay to struggle, it’s okay to not always be okay. Through everything you continued to fight for your dream."

"No one has worked harder. No one has been more disciplined. You inspire me every day to be great. Tomorrow is your moment. Enjoy every bit of it. You are ready,” added Hunter.

He was, indeed, cheering for her as his wife gave her gold-winning performance on Thursday and was hyping her up from the stands. After securing her win, Tara too ran to her husband in the stands, as he looked visibly excited.

In the future, roles will be reversed as Tara will be cheering for her spouse when the sprinter competes in the upcoming Paralympic Games later this August.
