John Hoffman recalled a late night of filming during the show’s third season on a picturesque ferry ride in Manhattan, where they shot until the early hours.

As he stepped off the gangplank, Hoffman was greeted by an emotional Streep, who had tears in her eyes. “I just had to wait here for you to get off the boat to say thank you,” she told him.

Hoffman was taken aback by her sentiment, prompting her to elaborate, “I just got to play a scene I really thought that the likes of which I wouldn’t have a chance to do. To play romantic scenes at this age with this band in this way, it’s just the greatest thing ever,” reported Yahoo.
