The biggest award night in Hollywood concluded with the winners taking home the coveted honor. While there were a few hits and misses, the Oscars 2024 was peppered with more than one memorable moment. Let's take a look at some of the most notable moments from the 96th Academy Awards.

1. John Cena presents costume award without putting one on

John Cena pulled off a daring stunt at the 96th Academy Award when he took the stage to present the award for 'Best Costume Design' without putting on a costume himself. A nude Cena proudly stood on the stage with the card containing the winner's name protecting his modesty. The former WWE champion's stunt was a tribute to a similar incident from the 46th Oscars.

2. Ryan Gosling performs 'I'm Just Ken'

Ryan Gosling summoned all of his Kenergy to deliver an electrifying performance on the 'Barbie' song 'I'm Just Ken'. Contrary to the heart-touching lyrics of the uber-popular song that goes, “Doesn’t seem to matter what I do/I’m always Number Two”, Gosling's Ken became number one as he cajoled the entire audience to vibe with him during his performance.

3. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt's banter as they give out the best stunt award

The friendly 'Barbenheimer' feud transcended to the Oscars stage as well when Barbie's Ryan Gosling and Oppenheimer's Emily Blunt united to give the award recognizing the stunt performers. The stars from the upcoming film 'Fall Guy', nevertheless, didn't miss the opportunity to bring the discussion back to 'Barbenheimer'. As Blunt noted her film had done “pretty well” in recent award shows, Gosling told her that her film was “riding Barbie’s coattails all summer.” Blunt shot back at her co-star and said, “Thanks for Ken-splaining that to me, Mr I Need To Paint My Abs On to Get Nominated.” Gosling said, “This has got to stop,” before adding, “We have to squash this.” 

4. Osage Nation members walk the red carpet

The singers and dancers from the Osage Nation walked the red carpet wearing their indigenous costumes as seen in 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. Their gorgeous attire grabbed significant limelight on the red carpet for their opulence and spectacle, Deadline reported.

5. Sean Lennon gives a shoutout to mom Yoko Ono

Sean Lennon received the Best Animated Short Film award for 'War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko'. During his acceptance speech, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono gave a birthday shoutout to his mother who just turned 91. He also wished her a Happy Mother's Day and asked the audience to wish her one too, which everyone gladly complied with.

6. Da'Vine Joy Randolph wins Best Supporting Actress award

Da'Vine Joy Randolph's win as the Best Supporting Actress became memorable for not one, but two reasons. Not only did the actress who won the award for her role in 'The Holdovers' break down into tears but former Supporting Actress winners Mary Steenburgen, Lupita Nyong'o, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rita Moreno, and Regina King also paid tributes to this year's nominees. Overall, emotions were running high during the Best Supporting Actress Award, according to Entertainment Weekly.

7. Jimmy Kimmel's heartfelt speech

Very little can go wrong with the affable host Jimmy Kimmel hosting the 96th Oscars. During the ceremony, Kimmel addressed the issue of Greta Gerwig not getting a nomination for Best Director. As the clapping began, he quipped, “I know you are clapping but you are the ones who didn’t vote for her, by the way. Don’t act like you had nothing to do with this.” Kimmel also recognized the crews who keep the Tinseltown running, and said, “This very strange town of ours, as pretentious and superficial as it can be, at heart is a union town,” before bringing out the teamsters, truck drivers, the lighting crew, sound, camera, gaffers, and grips. “All the people who refused to cross the picket line," Kimmel added. 

8. Robert Downey Jr wins Best Supporting Actor

Robert Downey Jr finally etched his name to the prestigious list of Oscar winners as he received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for 'Oppenheimer'. He gave a heartfelt speech where he thanked his “terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order” and his “veterinarian … sorry … wife, Susan Downey." He said, "She found me a snarling refuge pet and loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here." The actor also shared his “little secret” that “I needed this job more than it needed me … I stand here before you a better man because of it,” The Guardian reported.

Guess who was cheering the most when Robert Downey Jr won the Best Supporting Actor Award!? -- Messi, the dog from 'Anatomy of a Fall'. While looking dapper than anyone else, the dog was RDJ's ardent cheerleader while the actor received the award onstage.

10. Oppenheimer wins Best Film

The 'Barbenheimer' finally concluded with the Best Picture award for 'Oppenheimer'. As Emma Thomas received the trophy, she said, “I think any of us who make movies know that you kind of dream of this moment,” before adding, “You know you do, right? I could deny it, but I have been dreaming of this moment for so long but it seemed so unlikely that it would actually happen," according to Rolling Stone.
