Osundairo brothers claim Jussie Smollett used Kim Kardashian’s Paris incident to justify hate crime hoax
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: In a startling new allegation, the Osundairo brothers, Abel Osundairo and Olabinjo 'Ola' Osundairo, who played a part in the notorious 2019 assault on actor Jussie Smollett, have charged the actor with exploiting a past incident involving celebrity Kim Kardashian to rationalize orchestrating the well-known hate crime hoax.
Smollett's conviction was sensationally overturned on Thursday, November 21, by Illinois' Supreme Court in a decision that has been widely panned. The case was overturned due to a legal technicality linked to a favorable deal offered to Smollett by Cook County DA Kim Foxx.
Osundairo brothers urge Jussie Smollett to admit guilt
Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo have urged Jussie Smollett to finally admit his guilt. They also disclosed how he had persuaded them to assist him in staging the hate crime hoax.
In an interview with Fox and Friends, they claimed Smollett specifically mentioned Kim Kardashian's startling 2016 robbery in France, which nearly cost her life.
Kardashian was reportedly "bound and gagged" at gunpoint by masked thieves impersonating police officers during her stay at l'Hotel de Pourtales. They stole luxury jewelry valued at $10 million from the reality star.
According to the Daily Mail, the perpetrators were arrested and convicted after a trial in Paris, with no indication from French authorities that the robbery was a hoax. But the Osundairo brothers stated that Smollett told them the robbery was all "fake".
Abel said Smollett claimed that Hollywood celebrities frequently fabricate incidents for attention.
He said, "(Smollett) made it seem like this is what Hollywood does. He mentioned Kim Kardashian. During that time, she had an incident where she got robbed and kidnapped in France, and he said that was made up, that was fake."
He went on to say, "So that's what I was thinking, like, oh, this is what Hollywood does. My brother and I are professional actors, and we thought, oh, this is our introduction into Hollywood."
Osundairo brothers respond to Jussie Smollett’s overturned conviction
Jussie Smollett was convicted in December 2021 for making false reports to the police regarding an incident in Chicago two years earlier, in which he alleged he was assaulted by two men who shouted homophobic slurs and put a noose around his neck while donning MAGA hats.
Subsequent investigations revealed that he had orchestrated the attack with the help of the Osundairo brothers. Later, Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx's office agreed to drop the original charges against him in exchange for him forfeiting his $10,000 bond and performing 16 hours of community service.
A special prosecutor, Dan Webb, was later assigned to reinvestigate the case and he brought a new indictment against Smollett, but Smollett's attorneys argued that Webb never should have been allowed to bring new charges.
The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday sided with Smollett's attorneys, reversing his conviction, and ordering the case against him dismissed.
When Daily Maily asked for their response on the court's decision, Abel said, "We were taken aback initially, not because of the Supreme Court's decision, but because Jussie never admitted guilt."
He added, "We understand that he has due process rights and double jeopardy shouldn't and is not allowed in America. However, Jussie should have admitted guilt and that's where we stand."
Ola remarked, "So the real injustice here was the sweetheart deal he was given by Kim Foxx's office at the beginning of all of this."
The brothers stated that Smollett still owes them $500.
Ola said, "I don't think we're ever going to see that."
"It was not about the money at all. It was more so us helping out a friend," Abel added.
Despite Smollett's assertion that he was assaulted by two White supporters of Donald Trump, detectives, after examining surveillance footage, identified the Osundairo brothers as the suspects.
Internet slams Jussie Smollett
As soon as the Daily Mail published the news on its platform, social media users expressed their views, with most of them calling out Jussie Smollett.
A user suggested, "Just because someone else fakes a crime, doesn’t give you the right to do the same thing. Even, if they get away with it."
Another mocked, "L0L, Smollett said he copied fraudster, kimkardashian!!!"
A user remarked, "What does the Kim have to do with Jussie's lies, Unless you are comparing over inflated /\***s."
"He can be free, but in the minds of the whole world, he lied and was convicted and has now walked free. Only in America," a user wrote blasting Smollett.
A person said, "This was absolutely disgraceful! Overturning Smollet's sentencing is another terrible example of our dual system of justice."
