LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A resurfaced clip from 2018 shows Vice President Kamala Harris chanting "down, down with deportation" at a parade in Los Angeles along with actor Jussie Smollett, per Fox News.

Even though the Democratic candidate is now promising to secure the border, she was earlier a staunch opponent of deporting illegal immigrants which was seen in the clip obtained by The Daily Mail.

The chanting occurred at the 2018 Annual Kingdom Day Parade, where she was named Grand Marshal. In the clip, Harris joined in with a chant of "up, up with education, down, down with deportation." As she chanted along, she applauded and smiled.

Actor Jussie Smollett was also seen in the video alongside Harris, who would later be convicted of falsely claiming to have been attacked by former president Donald Trump's supporters in Chicago.

Kamala was also joined by the members of her family, including her husband Doug Emhoff, and his daughter Ella Emhoff.

Harris defended Smollett and wrote on X, "This was an attempted modern-day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or the color of their skin."

Harris opted for left-wing proposals during her 2019 presidential primary campaign and promised to expand the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) by executive order. It gives protection to illegal immigrants brought to the US as minors, per Fox News.

She added that she would eradicate age requirements on applications, and use parole authority to form a 'parole in place' program to put illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship.

Kamala Harris dubbed as 'border czar'

Harris has faced criticism over her role overseeing the root causes of the migrant crisis at the southern border since becoming the 2024 presidential nominee. It has led to her being labeled as the 'border czar.'

Moreover, she also changed some of her campaign positions by moving more to the center. The Harris camp confirmed to Fox in earlier September that she changed her positions on several immigration and border-security policies, including decriminalizing illegal crossings and closing immigration detention centers.

An advisor from her camp said her positions have been "shaped by three years of effective governance as part of the Biden-Harris administration."

The campaign added that she is "continuing to ensure sufficient resources to enforce our laws and prioritize detention and removal for individuals who pose threats to public safety and national security, as well as ensure compliance with immigration proceedings and decisions, including removal."

Internet slams Kamala Harris over resurfaced clip

Several internet users slammed Kamala Harris as a resurfaced clip from 2018 shows her chanting "down, down with deportation" at a parade in Los Angeles along with actor Jussie Smollett.

A user wrote on X, "How does she explain that video? She is JAMMING. Not a good look," while one added, "The invasion of our country is intentional. Kamala sees an illegal invasion as a new permanent voting block for the democrats."

A person also stated, "Kamala is pretending to be a moderate when we all know she is the most radical presidential candidate in American history," whereas one mentioned, "Not only does she look like an absolute idiot but people need to pay attention to what she is chanting. She’s a dangerously useful idiot."

A user also wrote, "Kamala Harris makes it clear that she protects criminals above all else," while one commented, "She probably 'evolved' her position like they all do when the cameras are off."

A person also added, "No, she’ll gaslight you as if this video never existed, and pretend she never held such a position" whereas one said, "This has been her plan for years! Destabilizing the nation through destroying the economy, open borders, etc to implement her communism!"
