WASHINGTON, DC: A day after the President announced that he has directed the Department of Justice to investigate Democratic leaders who are considering impeaching his officials after winning the midterms, Todd Blanche said “oversight Democrats need to be worried.”

Trump referred to the impeachment threats as “extortion at the highest level,” as he expressed concern about discussions inside the Democratic Party.

Blanche warns Democrats as opponents are set to take over Congress

Attorney General Todd Blanche, on Sunday, November 8, warned members of the House Oversight Committee on Sunday, November 8, that they should be “very worried,” accusing Democrats of threatening administration staffers with investigations.

Appearing on CNN’s ‘State of Union,’ Blanche said Democrats, including incoming House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. Robert Garcia, were trying to intimidate members of the administration and potential future staffers with threats of investigations.

He added that he was not saying the department would investigate every such case but said there was “a real problem in this country.”

As Democrats prepare to investigate the Trump administration over several allegations, including corruption, Stephen Miller is also expected to face scrutiny over his role in overseeing the administration’s immigration policies, among other responsibilities.

Blanche said the DOJ will “of course … be there to defend” Miller if he became the subject of congressional investigations.

Democrat Robert Garcia advises Trump admin to ‘lawyer up’

Earlier this week, Democratic Representative Robert Garcia warned that Trump and his allies should “lawyer up” ahead of potential investigations that Democrats could launch after their midterm victories gave them majorities in both the House and Senate.

Sen Richard Blumenthal, who is expected to lead a key Senate investigative panel when Democrats take control of Congress in January, sent letters to several companies and Trump administration officials last week, asking them to cooperate with potential investigations.

“Department of Justice lawyers represent members of the executive, and the fact that Congressman Garcia is critical of that shows a remarkable lack of understanding of how government works,” Blanche said.

“And I would be very worried if I was a member on that committee.”

DOJ to probe Democrats who are seeking officials’ impeachment

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, November 7, Trump accused Democratic leaders of threatening officials with impeachment and other forms of punishment even though “they have no reason to do so.”

“The Democrats are going around threatening a lot of people … with Impeachment and many other forms of punishment, even though they admit they have no reason to do so, and there have been no impeachable acts committed, or even thought of, by the victims of this illegal process,” the president wrote.

“I am ordering the Department of Justice to look into this criminal act, immediately,” he continued.
