Ozzy Osbourne writing his epitaph after emotional Black Sabbath farewell show: 'His way of signing off'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly preparing to say goodbye on his own terms with one final book and a farewell on stage.
Following his last concert performance, the 76-year-old rocker is now writing a memoir that will include his own epitaph.
Ozzy Osbourne may use epitaph as memoir’s opening chapter
The Black Sabbath frontman is penning 'Last Rites,' a memoir that a family insider says will serve as his ultimate goodbye.
“Ozzy is doing a swansong autobiography that will give his side of the story of all his scandals and ups-and-downs, and cheating and abusing,” the source told RadarOnline.
According to the insider, Osbourne is considering starting the memoir with his self-written epitaph.
“He’s toying with the idea of making the epitaph the title of the opening chapter, but it will definite feature very prominently inside even if he goes for a different name for the opening section of the book,” said the source.
'Last Rites' will be Ozzy Osbourne's final message to fans and loved ones
Battling Parkinson’s disease and chronic pain, Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly aware that his time is limited.
“Ozzy's been through hell the past few years with his health, and writing this book gave him a sense of purpose. It’s not just a look back, it’s his way of signing off on his own terms,” said the insider.

The insider said he knows he is on his "last legs" and sees his memoir as a "way to say goodbye to his family and fans."
The source added, “He’s not sugar-coating anything. He talks about being scared, about facing death, about not recognizing himself at times. But also about laughter, absurdity, and love, especially for Sharon.”
The book is also described as deeply personal, filled with reflections and revelations not shared in his 2009 memoir 'I Am Ozzy'.
Osbourne reportedly doesn't want anyone else to write his final chapter. “This is him, pen in hand, giving his own eulogy, but with plenty of swear words and black humor," added the insider.
Ozzy Osbourne's 'Back to the Beginning' concert likely his final time on stage
The source also said Ozzy Osbourne’s last concert, Back to the Beginning,' held in July in Birmingham and featuring performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and others, was his final time on stage.
“Ozzy knew this would likely be his final performance. He poured everything into it. There were tears backstage. It was emotional for everyone: Sharon, the kids, the band. But Ozzy was at peace with it. He wanted to go out loud, and he did.”
Osbourne’s final book is scheduled to be released on October 7 by Grand Central Publishing. 'Last Rites' will chronicle Osbourne’s health struggles, chaotic marriage to Sharon Osbourne, and stories of wild days spent with the likes of Lemmy Kilmister, Bon Scott, and Keith Moon.
