Angel Carter says ‘there was a lot of chaos’ in family

Speaking with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Angel said, as reported by ET Online, “There's certainly a generational dysfunction issue here that comes along with it, but as far as growing up, there was a time where we were a really close family. There was a lot of love.”

She, however, noted that “there was a lot of chaos going on at the same time. Just fighting. My parents were just fighting all the time. Just dysfunction in the home. No boundaries. No stability.”

“No one to talk to. It just felt like, if I had an issue going on I really couldn't have my parents to lean on to,” she revealed.

Angel Carter claims her ‘parents were poor’

Angel also mentioned that fame led to more issues in the Carter family.

She told King, “I think it changed everything, honestly. Nick has been in Backstreet Boys since I was four or five years old. So, a really long time. We were a family that had no money.”

She continued, “We were from upstate New York. My parents were poor. And they had never seen anything like this before.”

“So, once the money started coming in, it just changed the dynamic because money became the moving force,” Angel added.

The 44-year-old singer continued, “I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.

“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz.”

“Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth….God, Please take care of my baby brother,” Nick added.
