Zuzu’s journey to Hilton’s care began at the Pasadena Humane shelter.

The dog was surrendered after her family lost their Altadena home in the devastating wildfires that ravaged parts of Los Angeles, according to People.

Hilton, who has long been an advocate for animals, decided to foster Zuzu after learning about her story while volunteering at the shelter.

“So grateful to have met this angel at Pasadena Humane,” Hilton wrote.

“We have all fallen in love with her. To all the LA animal lovers out there, please reach out to them if you can—there are so many adorable animals in need of a loving home!” she added.

Hilton also encouraged her followers to consider fostering as a way to provide temporary or permanent homes to animals displaced by crisis.

Hilton’s decision to foster Zuzu comes from a place of personal experience.

Earlier this month, Hilton and her family had to evacuate their Malibu home due to the wildfires.

Alongside her husband, Carter Reum, their two young children, and their four dogs, Hilton documented the harrowing experience on her Instagram page, Hilton Pets.

“Evacuating our house with all our babies. Sending prayers to everyone and their pets," the caption read.
