Peanut the Squirrel probably helped Trump win 2024 presidential race, claims owner
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The owner of Peanut the Squirrel, also known as P'Nut, reportedly believes that the death of the squirrel contributed to Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential race against Kamala Harris.
Mark Longo told TMZ, “It was an absolute honor to see your big government acknowledge what has been going on in a small town area in the middle of nowhere in New York.”
“This made worldwide news and again congratulations to President Trump for winning the election. Maybe Peanut has something to do with it…I don’t know. This story is a tragedy,” he added.

Donald Trump aides blasted Peanut’s euthanization
Mark Longo was seemingly referring to Vice President-elect JD Vance's outcry last week following the squirrel’s death.
Vance at a rally in Sanford, North Carolina, had said, as per BBC, “The same government that doesn't care about hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant criminals coming into our country, doesn't want us to have pets.”
“It's the craziest thing,” he asserted.
Marjorie Taylor Greene also reportedly slammed the euthanization by stating, “Democrats in New York City went in and raided a home to kill a squirrel. They did — to kill a squirrel.”

Besides, Mike Collins added, “Trump's running against a socialistic, big government control everything about you woke regime. This thing's gotten so bad that they're killing the pets, they're killing the squirrels, they're killing the raccoons.”
Peanut’s owner ‘appalled’ by euthanization
Peanut was taken away from Longo by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on October 30 before being euthanized.
The DEC claimed it seized Peanut and a raccoon named Fred, and euthanized them to test for rabies.
The step taken by the government organization created a lot of controversy with Longo saying, “What happened today and what transpired throughout this week has been nothing short of a tragedy and a disgrace to the New York state,” as per USA Today.
He added, “We used resources from this state to kill a squirrel and raccoon and raid my house as if I was a drug dealer. We have resources to kill a raccoon and a squirrel, but we can't fix the major bridges down the street? I am appalled.”
A GoFundMe has also been launched for Peanut on behalf of Longo.

Its message read, “On October 30th, the DEC made the devastating decision to euthanize these precious animals, despite our heartfelt pleas for compassion.”
“In memory of Peanut and Fred, we want to shine a light on the mission of P’nuts Freedom Farm, which tirelessly rescues and provides care for vulnerable animals. Their lives were a testament to the importance of compassion and kindness toward all creatures, and we are committed to honoring them by continuing this vital work,” it mentioned.
