Peetah Morgan: Reggae musician who fronted the Grammy-winning group Morgan Heritage dies at 46
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reggae musician Peter Anthony “Peetah” Morgan, who fronted the Grammy-winning group Morgan Heritage, has breathed his last at the age of 46, reports Associated Press.
Morgan, who alongside his four siblings founded the Reggae group, died on Sunday, February 25, according to a statement shared by his family on social media. No cause of death was given.

“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today February 25th, 2024. Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way,” the statement read.
It continued, “Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing. Thank you! The Morgan Family”

Peetah Morgan was the son of Reggae musician Denroy Morgan
Morgan was the son of Reggae musician Denroy Morgan who died in 2022. He and his siblings Una, Roy “Gramps,” Nakhamyah “Lukes” and Memmalatel “Mr Mojo” formed Morgan Heritage, and released their debut album 'Miracle' in 1994. The group released more than a dozen records over the years, and in 2016, won best reggae album at the Grammy Awards, for 'Strictly Roots.'

Morgan spoke about Morgan Heritage’s lasting impact in the biography section of the group’s website, following the release of their album 'Legacy' in 2021. “This album gives listeners a chance to take a deep dive into what the career of Morgan Heritage has given to humanity from our heart and soul for over the years” he said.
“It means the world to us because we know how much people around the world love and appreciate what we do and with this Legacy album, you truly get to understand why," he added.
Jamaican PM mourned Peetah Morhan's death
Morgan’s death was mourned by stars like Ziggy Marley, who offered condolences to the Morgan family in the comments section of the Instagram statement.
Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness also said on X that his heart was “heavy to learn of the passing of Peetah Morgan of the world renowned Morgan Heritage.”
“I send my deep condolences to the Morgan family as they grieve this tremendous loss which is also a colossal loss for Jamaica and for Reggae Music. Our country is grateful for his life and contribution and the sharing of his exceptional musical talent which touched each of us,” Holness wrote, adding "I pray for the family’s peace and comfort during this unimaginably difficult time.”
