INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA: Country singer Morgan Wallen recently caused a stir on social media when he brought up Taylor Swift and got booed by the crowd while joking about breaking attendance records at a venue where he was performing.

This isn't the first time Wallen's made headlines. Back in January, he publicly criticized his former collaborators for releasing his old songs without his permission. Wallen didn't hold back, calling them 'greedy' and slamming the unauthorized releases as 'terrible'.

Wallen made it clear that he didn't want his fans to mistake those old tunes for his new music.

Meanwhile, Swift has been captivating her fans on social media. She recently maximized the hype of her upcoming album 'The Tortured Poets Department' by dropping a series of playlists on Apple Music that reflect the five stages of grief

According to the Daily Mail, during his concert in Indiana, Wallen cracked a joke about attendance records involving none other than the 'Look What You Made Me Do' singer.

Fresh off his 'One Night At A Time' tour kickoff, Wallen took the stage at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. As the country star paused to express gratitude toward the crowd for their support on night two, he couldn't resist a bit of boasting, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Wallen told the audience, "This is single most attended concert in the history of this building, and we're the first to do it for two nights in a row." The crowd responded with enthusiastic hooting and applause.

As reported by the Daily Mail, then came the punchline: "I'm going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town." But this time, things took a different turn as the crowd's reaction shifted to boos when Swift's name was mentioned.

While some fans cheered, most voiced their disagreement loudly, drowning out any differing opinions. Wallen tried to ease the tension and make it clear there was no ill will towards Swift.

As stated by the Daily Mail, he said, "We aint got to boo, we aint got to boo," but the crowd wasn't having it and continued their disapproval. Unsure of what to say next, Wallen simply thanked his supporters for having his back.

Internet users assert Morgan Wallen was trying to compliment Taylor Swift

A user defending Wallen wrote on Facebook, "He wasn't being petty, it was a joke and in a positive way, he didn't put her down. Yall need to chill"

Another user wrote, "I was there- he literally said that they told him that was the biggest attendance the stadium had ever had for a concert- until TS comes in November.. everyone laughed, some started booing, and he told them not to boo. It was a joke. I’m a full swiftie here.. Chill."

A user commented, "People will complain about anything. He literally gave her a compliment"

Another user commented, "He was being humble and keeping it real. TS will break his records so he was living it up while it lasts he said lol"

A user stated, "He said nothing bad about her. He actually was complementing her. The crowd booed and he said there ain’t no need to boo her."

Another user stated, "This is dumb, no reason to boo her, she didn’t do anything to him and he wasn’t trying to take a jab at her, people are too much."
