Pete Davidson gives rare insight into how fatherhood changed his career priorities
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pete Davidson has opened up about how becoming a father to his 9-month-old daughter Scottie Rose, whom he shares with ex Elsie Hewitt, has changed his priorities and outlook on his career.
Davidson also spoke about his friendship with comedian and writer Colin Jost and how parenthood has become a bonding experience between them.

During a joint interview with Jost at the 'Snapple Island Ferry Comedy Show' on Thursday, September 17, Davidson explained, “My priorities have shifted in just that becoming a dad is great for so many reasons, but it just made me realize the stuff that I cared about so much don't actually matter.”
The comedian continued, “Now the priority is if I don't get that whatever job or whatever, who cares? I get to be home with Scottie. That's awesome.” The 32-year-old also revealed that fatherhood has affected his general disposition, adding, “It's calmed [me] down. My eagerness to like—I don't know—be out there very much. I'm just happy where I am.”
Jost, who shares 5-year-old son Cosmo with wife Scarlett Johansson, responded by joking, “Counterpoint: Kids will drag you down. Ditch them. Follow your dreams.”
Davidson also praised Jost as a father, saying, “Colin's a great dad, and he sometimes sends me videos.” He added that being able to share updates about their children has become a bonding experience.
“What's really great is just being able to share, like, ‘Oh, look what they're doing today.’ It's just so fun, because when we met, we didn't have kids. So it's just fun to see the type of parents that we're becoming, and it's a fun bonding thing,” he added.
Jost expressed his admiration for Davidson, telling his former colleague and fellow Staten Island native, “I'm very proud of you. I'm very happy for you to be a dad, and I think it's just you will naturally be good at it forever, and it's a great thing.”

Davidson and Jost also discussed their Snapple Island Ferry Comedy Show, held on the decommissioned New York ferry boat they famously bought back in 2022. Jost said it was “really heartwarming—or just exciting” that many people wanted to attend, adding that he received more ticket requests for the event than for SNL or standup.
The 44-year-old comedian also said, “I think people are genuinely surprised at how giant and cool the boat is.” Davidson agreed, saying he “got more requests for this than the 9/11 benefit” he had held at Madison Square Garden the previous week.
“I'm not even kidding,” he said and also added, “The amount of texts I got from this show is...I was so shocked and so thrilled.”
Elsie Hewitt shares update about Scottie Rose
Meanwhile, Hewitt has spoken about her and Scottie's love for Olivia Dean's music. After attending Dean's 'The Art of Loving Live' tour date in New York City, she captioned an August 18 Instagram post, “We dance to Olivia Dean every day. It's our album. her music has given me so much and been with us thru every up and down this year.”
Hewitt also thanked “whoever fumbled” Dean for being the inspiration behind 'The Art of Loving,' before giving Davidson a special shoutout, “Thanks to my baby daddy for the tix!!!”
